2143: Pre-planning discussion and build/movement orders

    I'd rather have Googlie in the game itself. Reason being; that when (not if) alliances are forged, there will be someone else (besides me and Maniac) that can figure / suggest tech leapfrogs and such with someone who hasn't ever done this in MP.

    (Besides, I want to see how far I can outpace him while he's farming and mining... )

    It would have to be set up (CMN'd) by an outside source (maybe Darsnan). And it should be just a "regular" game. The intent is to gather experience with MP PBEM's. (I understand that Maniac and Googlie already have some sort of program that replicates what is already happening in the demo game. So no need to do something we already have.)

    Someone (besides me, cause I can't) should start a dedicated thread with a poll or something

      I don't disagree - in fact in a current SP game I'm building arty in numbers for the first time in a game.

      But we need Polysoft for arty, and we don't have it yet

        Just to test it, I went back into that 2142 presend save and where we had rushed the Crypteia (Sparta Command, 16 mins completed, 4 next turn) I went to the workshop and deleted the unit (it's actually the "retire" command). As commented on by Maniac, the build changed to stockpile energy. Changed then to a synthmetal garrison unit (prototype) and of course it came with the same 16 mins filled and 4 to go next turn (instant prototype completed)

              Zak Infiltrated

              .... and he has Ecol Eng

              Should we attempt the techsteal? (it's random what we get, so we may not pull it off - the other ones we could get are Biogenetics or Social Psych)

              But we lost the probe team in the infiltration

                  Moves so far:
                  • Rio Grande founded. Scout escort rehomed there and put on Alert
                  • Fort Buster's probe team moved to Rio Grande
                  • Hermes moved to Universaity Base Bay, unloaded one probe team who infiltrated Zak, but was lost in the process
                  • Tomcats 2, 3 & 6 completed the interior road network. Only Minas Tirith is not connected (bothe 2 and 3 got bogged down in the river bed trying to climb to the rolling & rainy tiles)
                  • Spartan Kel moved from monolith back to Cratersouth to garrison there
                  • Shinsengumi moved from Cratersouth to Fort Buster ready for the pop growth next turn
                  • Pegasus backtracked to pick up the OA probe team, then hove to offshore
                  • Klutzy-footed probe team took a wrong turning and missed the rendezvous with the Pegasus (damn diagonal keys!! - will have to take a running jumo next turn to board the Pegasus (but no harm done, as the Pegasus is exactly where it would be if it had boarded the Probe team in the bay)
                  • Invincible continued SouthWest to the landmass we can see - encountered the 80% damaged Hive Sloop
                  • R-112 still boxed in - called Yang to see if he would demand withdrawal, but all of a sudded he "sees that he has misjudged our strength" (We are now FORMIDABLE!!) and has asked for Gene Splicing


                  Game on hold and saved while we deliberate the following:
                  • Do we try for a techsteal from Zak?
                  • What do we want MT's former (Tomcat-7) to do - mine that minerals special?
                  • Build orders for the stockpiling energy bases
                  • Do we counter Yang by asking for Polysoft? (Remembering that he has both Morgan's and the Angels' commlinks, and neither of them has GS from us yet)

                    Gee, I gotta stop playing these turns at 7 - 8 am Pacific Time - there's no-one on-line to get a second opinion from. Just ties up the PC!!

                      We can always trade later (maybe for Opticals instea dof Polysoft)

                      Just can't risk the other 2 teams getting GS from yang instead of from us

                        • Our probe team has been promoted to veteran status
                        • Zak slapped our wrists ("Be warned, etc etc")


                        And, AAARRRGGGHHH the tech choice to move to is the biggie:

                        sane choice is Doc Initiative

                        But HEC and Neural Grafting are also tempting ..............

                          I opened the turn this afternoon (parents are on holiday for two days so I needed to go home to feed the cat ), and Zak was unwilling to talk to me. Is anyone else able to contact them, or can we forget about the idea to pact with Zak and trade instead of steal EcoEng?

                          Question: if because of this we'd decide to stick with the original plan after all (war/probe rape of Zak, peace with Hive), how fast could we get another trannie filled with probes near a Uni base, supposing we moved our 2-MP probe teams as soon as possible to VV, and hurry the transport there? Before or after we'd research EcoEng ourselves?

                                I say we still keep to our plan for Doc Initiative. We'll have so many hi-grade techs to swap that getting HEC won't be too difficult, IMO
