  • Data Angels Diplomacy

In this thread I hope to consolidate our DA diplomacy efforts.

In 2158 we made contact with the DA.

Please give me some insight into what we want from the DA

    Greetings To GeoModder

    I PM'd this to GeoModder

    Greetings GeoModder:

I am pleased to meet the Data Angel faction that we have thought of with great fondness.

As time is of the essense (I am very tired and need to go to sleep soon, plus the Morgan turn is coming up shortly), I am pleased to announce that one of our ships has made contact with one of your bases.

Please be advised that we are interested into entering into trade with you as well as tech exchanges and other mutually profitable ventures.

Please let me know if you would be interested in mutully profitable trade, tech exchanges, and similarly mutully beneficial ventures.

    Mead

Chief Diplomatic Offoce (CDO) Morgan Corp

    PS
Please note our turn is up soon (about 16-17 hours). Please let us know what you would like to offer so we can act on it before the turn is up for us. If I am not available or respond (because of RL) before the turn is up, please PM jtisyoda (the turnplayer).

How do we go about setting up an embassy? Who sets it up? Where? How?

      Jtsisyoda

      I'll be logging off now.

I'll try to get back on-line before the turn is up, but I am not hopeful.

I told GeoModde to contact you if I do not respond to him due to RL so we can act before the turn is up.

However, I think the Gods will grant an extension to give both teams time to work over a deal.

Unless we feel that rushing any deal benefits us more than not rushing a deal with the DA then I think we should ask for a delay. (Maybe the DA will cut us a beter deal if they feek they have to commit before the turn isup perhaps?)

      PS

      Great news on the contact.

        Reply from Geo

        Welcome on Planet.

        Greetings to the Morgans,

We've anticipated for a while contact with our Morgan neighbours, and are glad we have finally met.

As for the short timeframe you wish us to decide whether or not to conduct friendly relations and trades of sorts, I can at this stage only say that the Morgans may put a Treaty offer in the next diplomatic cache and by the time our administration is able to proces it our future relations will be discussed throughly in our Network, and with you of course.

        Sincerely,
        DataJack GeoModder

            DA Accept our Treaty Offer

            Below is Geo's acceptance:

Response on the Corporate's Treaty proposal

            Members of the Corporation,

It is with pleasure I announce to you that the DataJacks accept a Treaty of Friendship with their Corporation counterparts. Once we have established this we're willing to start negotiations on possible technology exchanges. Looking at the seemingly powerfull position your faction has, we expect that not much tech exchanges will be possible though due to the high level of knowledge this position represents. But speaking about it never hurts of course.

            Regards,
            IT GeoModder
I note that he states that they have little in the way of tech to offer us.

I think DA are relieved to meet us but are a little afraid of us. Good.

What do we want from them?

I'm think commlink to Gaians and their world map.

I'm not sure they have anything else that we want.

Once we get those two items I would have no problem with pacting with them to increase profits. Although they will get infiltration, I am not too concerened (Sparta, a more serious threat, already has it.)
Let's be very careful about the info we share with them about our intentions. We don't know who else they will share it with plus our increased knowledge over them is power. Let's maximize it.

Do we know what tech they have? How?

Should I ask them for a list of what they have and what they would like to trade?

                Excellent work.

I doubt they will give us maps, though maybe we have something they really want...

I agree, Gaian commlink and a map would be good. If they have SotHB that would be excellent.

What about beefing them up and turning them on Sparta? Is this possible? If it is, is it wise?

yes we should bind them against the spartans, so they will never team up against us. Btw did they accept the treaty without annual payments from us? We should be aware that if the angels hear that sparta get/got that they will ask it too. Tech trading is ok if it helps us more than them ..

Pact seems also good, if we don't have to give up much for it.

So, keep up the good works

what are our intentions? destroying sparta before they destoy us? well, that will be crucial information

I agree with you Geo. It never hurts to ask.

Please let us know what you would like receive from us as well as what you could offer us in return.

We are pleased to be Treatied with you. I further believe the Corporation may be receptive to Pacting with you. Please let me know if the Datajacks would like to upgrade the Treaty to a Pact.

I let him make the first offer. I'm hoping that he will 'anchor' negotiations at a level on or better than what we would (kind of letting a potential buyer for your used car make the first offer). If he tries to anchor it too favorably towards the DA I'll have to bring him back to reality. If he makes an offer that is more favorable to us than we would expect I'll negotiate for an even better deal for us.

I think the consensus is that we are willing to Pact with the DA. We've already been infiltrated by the Spartans and I'm more concerned about the Sparatans than the DA.

I am still considering making a major offer to the DA:

I propose a major Pact with the DA whereby we give them much of out tech in exchange for:

                          all their tech (at least all that we want);
                          their world map;
                          commlink with Gaians;
their promise not to share tech with Gainians; and
their promise for them to vote for us in election for governor.

My intent is to get the above from the DA, then contact the Gaians and get the same deal from them. Then try to get elected governor.

Please let me know what you think. There is no rush so consider it and let me know what the consenus is.

                          PS

Meanwhile I will explore minor tech trades with the DA.

Didn´t they already decline a pact?

other than that it sounds good.

                              They declined a Pact.

They didn't decline a Pact that included total (or near total) exchange of techs.

They might be willing to consider this because it would give them a chance to catch up techwise.
