  • 2109 end turn + 2110 discussion

This turn could be considered complete, but I urge everyone to look at the labs situation. I made a reversible change in an effort to grab CentEco a turn early.

I switched MorgInd to the river energy bonus.

    sliders: 40/0/60

Need two lab extra points to get CE in three turns.

30/0/70 gives one extra lab point per turn, but loses 5 ec to inefficiency... If we do that in 2110 and 2111, we'll get CentEco in 2112, a year early. But..

Next turn, the two western scouts have rivers they can get onto... for every pod they find that's within reach by 2111, that's one less turn we would need 30/0/70.

SO... Do we go for it? Or play safe and scale it back to 50/50, and work the rolling rainy?

Also, no auto-completes, but the indie scout found a pod, uncovering a 2km high energy bonus (6 energy w/solar).

I'd say shave a turn off our time to get formers.

Sorry I'm not going to be able to finish this one off, computer time's up for the day in about 2 min...

Assuming not much has changed since last turn re: labs (IIUC, we're now getting 1 extra labs/turn workign the energy bonus?) then we gain the chance of CentEcol providing the two scouts find pods next turn. If they don't then lets switch to 50/0/50 again, and come off the energy bonus. No big loss. Remember to switch MorInd to something worth completing (Energy bank maybe?) when we pop pods and we'll be fine.

It turns out 40/0/60 this turn doesn't give more labs than 50/0/50, so I switched that. Almost lost some ec's. Oops. Turn is posted.

Get formers fast... we're the Morgans, we can afford to put a few credits into Investment Opportunities. If we're trying to play safe for the future, well, I'll quote our very own CEO:

"By what right does this forgotten future seek to deny us our birthright?

I've been giving this some thought, and I'm not convinced that getting CentEcol earlier is a good idea. We're currently the tech leaders, and so our tech cost is increased from other peoples. In this case, we're probably having to pay an extra 8 points for CentEcol, almost a whole turn.

Taking that into account, along with us all but eliminating our income at the expense of research, I suggest that we leave sliders at 50/0/50 for good or ill until we have our next 2 bases planted. We don't want to remain at the top of the research pile because others will overtake us, and we certainly don't want that to happen when we're also poor.

Do you think delaying Cent Eco by one turn will give someone else the tech lead?

I agree that money for rush-building is an important resource. But we have so little to spend our money on, we won't be poor for a while.
