  • What to do if council is convened in future?

We should think about this prospect. The way I see it, it depends on Spartans (they have five commlinks and Yang six - trading Lal's frequency to Yang enables Yang to convene the council). We should have a strategy outright for this. The way I see it, best is to deny governorship to other factions (since it enables them infiltration), unless they are ready to pay a very hefty price for it. We would do best voting for Yang or other AI, if there is a possibility in order that no team can use it. It will still be some time before we will have population large enough to compete with others. Your thoughts?

With their 50 population, the Hive pretty much wins if elections are called. I don't know who would be the other on the ballot, but it would probably be another AI. In any case, it doesn't matter to me which AI gets elected, as long as no human player is elected. Giving up infiltration information and a trade advantage would require an extremely elaborate bribe.

Yep, I'd say if possible get an AI voted in.

        I say
        1.vote for us if possible,
2.if not - ask if someone wants to buy our votes

When would we not vote for ourselves? I take it this is really a vote for when we have no chance of winning.

In which case I am not above whoring out my vote......but I am one high priced hooker
Basically it would need to hurt them more than they would gain from being govenor. In which case it is unllikely anyone would make such a deal.

Of course all this brings up the Empath Guild. I assume this a much higher priority in a MP game than a SP one. And since Cent. Empathy is a very useful tech for us anyway, perhaps we should put some emphasis on getting it soon.

The Empath Guild is disabled in this game precisely because it's such a high priority.

It is very unlikely we will have one of the top two vote totals, given that Yang has 50 votes and Lal probably has more than half our population. Therefore, we need to pick who to vote for besides ourselves. As stated before, Yang looks like the safest place to throw votes.

Hmmm... after looking over the options carefully, although I vote for 'an AI with the best chance of winning', I assume we will vote for ourselves if the chance provides itself first.

I want to avoid having another human team as Chairperson (er... persons), going by Hive's general betrayal of CPU in the last game after they got the Chair.

Hmm, maybe let's vote for Lal - to vote for Hive will unnecessarily boost it I think (if it has any allies) and we wont be able to get a good vote for Planetary Trade Pact and other very needed issues I think..

We already have infiltration on the Hive.. Ever hear the saying,"Better the madman you know than the devil you don't?" We don't know anything really about Lal yet.... Just something to consider....

Well, if Lal can prevail, I would vote for him - does it rate with AI relations? I just don't want other human factions to get the info easily.

Exactly. Last time taught me that if we can't get it, deny it to the other non-AIs wherever possible.

What can you get if Yang is governor and you propose Planetary Trade Pact - a veto!

And Lal is surely weaker than Hive + we could get 1 friendly AI with this!

I read the entire post.... So you think that Lal wouldn't veto the Pact? And why exactly is that? Because Yang doesn't seem to like anything? Good enough for me....

                            From my expierence:
Lal vetoes Pact and other good things only if he has no friends..
Lal ALWAYS vetoes "repeal U.N. charter"

Yang ALWAYS votes for "repeal U.N. charter"
Yang doesn't veto Pact only if he's getting LOADS of commerce (which he isn't likely to do in any normal game)

We can make a more informed decision when the council is convened and we see everyone's vote totals.
