Instead of E, I think move the former SE. We still road to the base here. We can then forest it for use by GL. We can then sensor it and it will cover 4 bases from there.
Move the other former N and forest there. Then it can join up with the other one later to complete the above.
I like CT's idea of building a scout in GL to free up the spore launcher.
Built a scout in the new base.
The pod the foil/rover found is in fungus. If we pop it, do we get a 2nd move to escape if need be? If not, I say we bypass it for now.

We will get another move to escape if we pop the pod from the rover.
My suggestion was to build a scout in Gaia's Landing that would serve as defense for both Gaia's Landing and Base 6. We don't need garrisons in every single base yet. We will when we need police everywhere.

Whenever bases are adjecent to fungus I like to garrison them. It's rare but possible that a MW can appear in fungus and move into the base in the same turn, and that would REALLY hurt. We'll have more formwers soon and one more won't make too much difference at this point in our development.

It should be noted that not all bases need their own garrisons for protection - while DoG needs one, GL and FT are not in big danger since all nearby squares are 'pacified' for fungus spawning and theoretically one garrison should be able to defend them all. So it doesnt really need a defender..
Especially if we add an sensor array nearby.
But then it should concentrate on not expanding it's pop beyound 1 citizen - building CPs there would solve this!-- What history has taught us is that people do not learn from history.

Agreed, GL can most affort being garrison-less. So one scout between GL and the new base will free up the spore launcher. But let's get that sensor built fast.
Also, try to move the CP E-SE in one turn since there's a good chance it will get into the flat tile with 2/3 movement left. Here it will share the tile with a former (if my plan is adopted) and that will be a little extra security. (BTW, can a former be designeted as primary defender?)

I don't think noncombat units can be designated defender, because I've tried it a few times to little avail.
How near is Gaia's Landing to reaching size 2? At that point, it needs a garrison regardless of dangers, since the alternative is a doctor, and we don't have a CP in production. However, by the time it reaches size 2, base 6 may have had time to produce both a former and a garrison.
If we move a former southeast, we could move the other former somewhere else, perhaps southwest to road-forest, or one tile north to forest."Cutlery confused Stalin"

Will play in 1-2 hours.
We have two pods to pop, one on foreign soil. If it yields an artifact, I'd put the artifact on the foil (waiting a turn for it if artifacts pop with no movement), and zip back towards Gaian territory, in time to catch the mind worm to take it to foreign lands."Cutlery confused Stalin"
