SE: No
Sliders: No
Rush: Formers at Landing, but I'll wait till after mid-turn save
Comm: No, but we need a plan on the off-chance we meet someone.
Building: CP after rush, mentioned above.
So I'll hold back discussion about the scout patrol 'till after we see what's there.
Any special rules I should know about as turnplayer? Where the heck are the rules lists?

The rules list is rule of forbidden exploits. You should read it, but currently we can't do any of them anyway .SMAC/X FAQ | Chiron Archives

Two more quick questions, and I did just re-read the rules here and in main forums (they are the same).
What about the mid-turn save? Is that legal? Doesn't it show up in the savegame?
What is our deadline for this turn? It looks like I can download it.

Deadline is 48 hours from it being posted for us. Midturn save is legal - you move some units and select save game from menu. Game will automatically close then (do not click end turn!). When you wish to continue you just load the midturn (it doesn't count as reload, as you are merely continuing the game).SMAC/X FAQ | Chiron Archives

Good point about what to do if we encounter another faction since you won't have the luxury of consulting with the rest of us. I assume we'll meet The Hive 1st, so for what it's worth here's my 2 cents worth of analysis: With any luck they'll be magnanimous torwards us due to our SE settings. Unless their attitude towards us is really nasty, don't let them draw us into a vendetta with their emeny. Go for a treaty and if that works go for a Pact immediately. Don't trade tech with them unless we've completed our 1st research by then. I'd rather gift them a tech than make a trade we don't want.
Errr...where's our diplomacy officer?

We do not need a diplomacy officer if we do not have any contacts . Anyway Buster said that Hive has extremely good terrain, and that expansion into Hive teritory would be very profitable. We should think about going to war against Hive (as an option) in future. It is sure that other factions will attack Hive.SMAC/X FAQ | Chiron Archives

One more dumb Smack question. Password for turn?
Edit, I mean I see the last one mentioned h*, but after all the fuddling with restarts and whatnot, is that the current one?

yes it is, and I am going to make a new stickied thread containg informations like this. Also, this is private forum, nobody except mods can see it. .
One more thing for you to do smacksim, if you are willing. Open menu, selecet network, and from that menu choose customize you faction. Replace Gaia's Stepdaughters with Gaian Union, so that we correct this minor issue.Last edited by Illuminatus; July 4, 2004, 16:42.SMAC/X FAQ | Chiron Archives

Moved the CP north, and there is good green land there, a pod, and a little bit of fungus. This looks like room for at least 4 cities total, even if every other direction was fungus or water.
A very strange thing happened though; It seems our we are now yellow with some ugly Morganified buildings. Is this a result of the turn being re-made by the CMNs and then actually changing the player order backward a notch, or did I do something? I retested with making my own MP games and had no problems getting proper graphics.Aldebaran 2.1 for Smax is in Beta Testing. Join us for our first Succession Game

It's so tempting to pop that new pod after founding the base. A monolith would be excellent, reducing our lab time to maybe 4 turns, from the current 7. Oh very tempting.
Now, where to move the scout? Then I'll proceed as planned:
Rushbuy former at the Landing, start CP
Leave sliders alone.

Note: after formers, in queue must be stockpile energy alone. I would pop that pop, or at least scout through fungus more. I will do a test study of what are the chances of getting sth from a pod in fungus.SMAC/X FAQ | Chiron Archives

Stockpile will always be in queue after units on my turnplay. I have a hard time remembering NOT to do that in other games. Old habits.
I do think that a pod adjacent to a base will pop significantly differently than a pod anywhere else. Worth doing some tests. Thanks Obstructor.

Uh these tests will take a while. I msut test under several conditions. It seems that there are some intersting modifiers of chances. Current test result is actuallySMAC/X FAQ | Chiron Archives
