Perhaps it would be time to start accumulating PT for building SP? Or former rush? Anyway, I won't vote for now.

Wow, thanks Illuminatus. Go ahead and vote. The more the merrier. Also, edit the poll to allow multiple votes!Aldebaran 2.1 for Smax is in Beta Testing. Join us for our first Succession Game

Hmm, I just ried the edit poll option and I can only open/close polls and change votes. So I can make a third poll, or I can manually add votes if others specify them in their posts.

New base production poll
Well, there wasn't exactly that option - I created a new poll and moved posts to new poll. You can vote now. I will wait for now, since I am not pretty sure if we should go former rush or make PTs for TWP. I will wait a debate, since my vote can easily be decisive, so better if I think it through. I will now wait a debate about what to produce.Last edited by Illuminatus; August 8, 2004, 09:57.SMAC/X FAQ | Chiron Archives

As the only voter so far, I voted for 4 probe teams and 2 formers. Unless there is an immanent visible threat, I always start with a former or base facility rather than a garrison. The extra former turns is worth a small risk, especially if that risk can be minimized by nearby military.
The 4 probe teams are: 2 --> north to be ferried across the ocean, 2 --> whatever base is going to build an SP.Aldebaran 2.1 for Smax is in Beta Testing. Join us for our first Succession Game

Formers in most bases.
Gaia's Landing can produce a scout patrol to defend and police it, and defend base 6, freeing the spore launcher to scout that potential land bridge to the east.
I picked Virgin Soil for a probe team because it will have used up its free support, and if we have a land bridge to (presumably) Yang's territory in the northwest, that base would be closest."Cutlery confused Stalin"

Here's the current consensus:
No colony pods (and who voted for a CP at base 6??)
Gaia's Landing is torn between a scout patrol and a probe team. The scout is the safe choice, and the probe is the rewarding choice. We already have a scout coming from the north, so this scout would go to base 6.
Fallow Time is split between terraforming and either saving up for a SP or exploring/infiltrating
Virgin Soil is supporting enough and is in the best position to infiltrate with a probe team
Formers for the rest, to get roads, sensors, and forests in place."Cutlery confused Stalin"

I don't know how we'd do it, but it would be nice to have a support summary for the various bases to go with the poll. For instance, I believe GL is only supporting a Former? In that case I will re-cast my vote for a scout.
It's a little slow at first, but my usual 0 support plan is :Former --> Scout --> Facility/Probe team/CP, unless pressed. This maximizes former turns and sacrifices little in defense/drone control.Aldebaran 2.1 for Smax is in Beta Testing. Join us for our first Succession Game

Ok, we have 5 bases supporting 7 units. Very soon we’ll have 6 bases supporting 7 units. So, we can afford to build 5 more units, 12-7=5, and still not pay support.
We have 5 scouts and for safety’s sake we’d need 6, one for each base. So we’d have 4 empty slots available for formers.
I think that two bases should be assigned to building formers. Afterwards these two bases should build a former and a probe team. Two other bases should be assigned to build probe teams. The 5th base should begin work on the Merchant Exchange SP, or at the very least a probe team with the idea of using it for the SP. The new base should build a scout patrol then a former.
I haven’t thought thru which base builds which units, but that’s the easy part.
