I think the Navy pictures show that we should concentrate on a road to the North, if/when possible. Further, it wouldn't be bad to build a probe team, perhaps after 9-12 bases are on the way to being established. Perhaps earlier.
Contacting Yang this early would produce Doc:Loyalty, or more likely, Applied Physics. The chance of him having a tech on beeline is close to nil. Zak, on the other hand....
Perhaps it would be good to contact Yang whilst we are the weakest faction. If we can get a pact with him, or even a treaty, it might prevent him turning on us later....just a though.
Another concern is the AI selling our world map after contact. They seem to be able to do this on Transcend without trading for the map itself, so.....maybe we should be isolationist in regards to the centrally placed Yang. Je ne sais pas.
I am against going for Yang - Yang will be destroyed later, as he borders all four human factions. We can easily defend from him if we secure the landbridge, and we can get techs from him later.
Smack - I do not remember that this happened in previous ACDG -perhaps you are wrong about map trading?

I have been thinking, why is Zak rated as military strongest' Perhaps he popped a BO, and perhaps he explored Unity Wreckage and got Chopper + Mining Laser? Does someone have experience in that sort of things -> can getting this units increase your military rating?

Yes, this is clearly from found units, most likely BOgre. Finding the Unity Chopper and Laser is usually not enough to improve a rating above a speedier military faction like Yang or Miriam, in my experience. This is great for us, b/c University will be loathe to trade with other factions while it thinks it's on top. Also, other AI will probably try to go after Uni. But of course, this will probably not last very long.
Interesting for me, since I thought Angels will run FM. Also Morgan is obviously producing crawlers for secret projects since he reached IA.
BTW looking at your maps for MW drop off Smacksim, you do realise that we have a landbridge to the north for sure, and that ferrying units NE as your maps show is impossible for now? Until we make a base on northeast shores and produce a sea unit with Doc: Flex, we won't be able to go to the AIs or the other factions, but we can place MW directly to the middle of Yang area, cutting some time then with usual explore/pop routine.
To easily check this, set gamma correction to 2000000 or so and fully zoom out - you will see the landbridge.

I wasn't aware of that. Well, we still want to ferry a MW north then to pester Shen-Gi. If the landbridge is a tile wide, let's consider building a base there to allow our navy a Canal.
Yes, but ferrying MW is relatively quicker than exploration to thenorth, and can possible get us to the north leaving way to the east to pester the whatever faction it is. It isn't quite clear about thickness of landbridge, but all three other human factions seems to be connected via landbridges.
I was thinking, if we could divert a unit in future perhaps to travel to the east, meeting Zak/Lal depending who from them is the bottom one. Perhaps it would be best to explore north and areas with Yang, but if we capture a native unit it should go to the east.

I was planning to move the spore launcher east, but the consensus was that we needed it to defend against the native mind worms to the north. We can put it back on its original path now.
