Sorry, must have mistaken you for a Gaian. I was presenting the list of options available to them, in view of their new 'Constitution'. The list of options on the Spartan side is, of course, rather longer.

Illuminatus – the key to my survival in the xenofungus was the discovery of a delectable native food xenobananas! Yes, these oblong and slightly curved pinkish yellow fruits and delicious and highly nutritious. I recommend them highly!

Also key was my new friend Fluffy, a mindworm of noble intent and inscrutable actions. He (it?) taught me the Xen of Planet, or also known as how-I-stopped-worrying-and-learned-to-love-the-xenofungus. Once you get used to the unnatural color palate and the real possibility of being some mindworm’s snack the fungus is great fun!

But, my walkabout is now over and I’m back among my Gaian friends. I have an appointment with Dee later today to discuss all my findings in intimate detail.

Spartan Options when a mindworm attacks:

          - Kill them
          - Kill them and eat the burnt mw bodies
          - Let another squad kill them (as they need the experience more than us elites do)
I'm building a wagon! On some other part of the internets, obviously (but not that other site).

Nice work, Im glad to see that Morgan publishing with have someone to compete with. Lets see if Angels can come out with some material now and we will then have some publications from everyone.

Also I realy like this format, its like what Kody is using for his PLO reports, did he assist you with it? If he did and is willing I would like to see Morgan use the same thing perhaps making this the standardized format for all publications.
Companions the creator seeks, not corpses, not herds and believers. Fellow creators, the creator seeks - those who write new values on new tablets. Companions the creator seeks, and fellow harvesters; for everything about him is ripe for the harvest. - Thus spoke Zarathustra, Fredrick Nietzsche

Was merely pointing out the historical irony in the statement:
you're the first time anybody's mixed environmentalism with a complete lack of self-preservation
which seems to me to be the obverse of history.

GT – it is clear that you and Gaians don’t have the same definition of ‘harm’ wrt Planet. To use Spartan terminology, you seem to be taking the Gaian Supreme Laws in a tactical rather than a strategic sense. Gaians define harm in a holistic (eg – strategic) way, and by seeing themselves as part of an ecology. As part of the ecology they may, of course, defend themselves against predations (tactical), and to some extent engage in predatory behavior. The key for Gaians is balance, and a clear understanding of what is harmful and helpful to Planet.

Keep in mind some of the datalinks quotes from Planetmind. Planet welcomes the increase in ecological diversity that Earthlings bring, and is welcoming – to a point. But if humans start the activities that killed Earth (‘planet death disease’) then Planet will not be welcoming, and it responds accordingly.

You may be asking exactly what Gaians consider ‘harm’. That is part of Gaian Philosophy, and is privy to Gaian team members.

While it is true that cooperation, coexistence and symbiosis is part of any ecology, meaning that what is good for the individual species is good for the ecology as a whole, and the other way around what is good for the whole ecology is good for one species, it is equally true that competition also forms part of any ecology. So inevitably one day you will be faced with the choice to:
                      a) do what is good for humanity, or
                      b) do what is good for the rest of the ecology minus humanity.

The question is, when that day comes, what will you choose?

As a human and as a survivalist, I would naturally opt for the first choice. If harmony with Planet is beneficial for our survival and prosperity, live in harmony we will do.
But if those mind worms dare cross with our intentions, then Planet be damned!!!

M – you’ve just identified the differences between Gaians and other factions. The Gaians do not see an instance where humanity can’t fit in with the ecology of Planet, and even add to it: the Gaians see cooperation; others see competition

From a Gaian’s point of view your choice is false because your choice is not inevitable.

                          Now, pass the granola.

Hydro: you realize that, given that the Mindworms are part of the planetmind, any harm visited upon them is directly done to the planetmind, right? It would be rather similar to chopping off somebody's fingers, except that these ones grow back.

Now, you could have adopted an alternate position, under which harm to the Planet is forbidden except where human lives are directly at stake, which would allow defence against the worms - but by placing the avoidance of harm to Planet above everything else (including the survival of humanity in general), you've legislated yourselves into a corner.

EDIT: Not to mention that, under the hierarchy of priorities set out in your constitution, the Gaians are obliged to obey any orders given by the Planetmind unless they directly threaten Planet. So, if the Planetmind decides that humanity must be eradicated, and instructs the Gaians to exterminate all other factions, and then commit suicide - you have no choice but to obey.

Hmm. That sounds like a decent plot line.

"Kill humans. Human destructiveness of planet beings not tolerated. Deirdre will help us?"

"Um. Yeah. We're going to start with the Data Angels. We know they've been trying to hack into planetmind. What do you think Planetmind?"

"Think nothing. Be everything. We are you are We. Planetmind is not of choosing....is not of doing....We are aware of Angelnet. No voices...only cold cold angel-mind. We will warm the cold....Deirdre....you will warm the angel-mind...."

"I guess that's a yes" (nods to Hydro to release Fluffy and friends)

"Deirdre is friend. We like poetry and naked through trees dancing. Planetmind is dancing with you"

"Excellent big P. We'll go warm up the Angel-net for you. "
