    GOOD MORNING FROM MORGAN INDUSTRIES!
    -Offical Morgan Industries Greeting

Good morning and welcome to the Alpha Centauri system! We at Morgan Industries hope you had a pleasant wake from cryo- freeze. Our CEO Nwabudike Morgan has personally invited you to our fact- finding meeting in landing pod 5. Chiron is a virgin planet; full of new prospects, challenges and more importantly, new resources. We want you to be there, on the ground floor, as Morgan Industries lays the foundations of capitalism for everyone on our new Earth.

The location of the meeting will be in the disembark center of cryobay Alpha, Landing pod 5. The meeting will start at 1100 Unity Standard Time, every third day until landing. Thank you again and we hope to see you there!

    - CPO Maximillian Vandopolis

    NOW THESE HEADLINES:

    - Nwabudike Morgan elected to CEO position of Morgan Industries by a 98% to 1% vote of shareholders. 1% later fired.

    - Original copy of Adam Smith's The Wealth of Nations to be brought to the surface of Chiron with the new Morgan Industries Boardroom.

    - Militants seize Unity Colony Pod. Unity leaders call it "Nothing big at all. They took the worst one anyway."

    - Weird pink fungus sighted on Chiron. Thought to contain cute little 'Xenobunnies.'

    - Lady Diedre Skye, remarking to being called a 'Tree- hugger', asks instead to be called a 'Fungus- hugger.'

    - Provost Zarkhov, Unity Science Officer, concludes that the chicken did indeed come before the egg. "What egg can cross a street?" He questioned.

    - In a last- minute LAN game of Quake X, in game clan, the "Data Angels" defeat "1337 H4XoRz" in a 5-2 victory.

    - In accordance with UN mission objective 15398-a, the frozen remains of former US dictator George W. Bush will be incinerated in the Chiron atmosphere. (15398-a was written so that humanity would not have to keep the body of the instigator of WWIII anywhere near Earth.)

    "LIES, RUMORS, AND SLANDER"
    -Chiron News Network

That is what our CEO has said about recent rumors that there are those in the Unity Officer corps that want him dead. "But be warned, my friends." Nwabudike Morgan added, "There are those aboard the Unity that would wish us not to succeed in our goals." He would further elaborate that rumors of assassination attempts on his life were created to drive people away from his vision "of a new capitalism." Security Chief Shen- ji Yang has added his "personal guards" to our CEO's defense force.

Should I point the fact that most of data is in conflict with Kody's story, which will be accepted as official one?

Obstructor: That poll has yet to close.

However, this poll is invalid because it doesn't have a "No, because I like freedom" option.

Morgan has not yet landed on Planet I think, as nor did any other faction .

Adam: I never said it is final, but it is obvious.

Eh, I posted that before I saw the present poll. Does look like your way will win... at the moment.

No need to edit the poll. However my way , I prefered the restart story, with us travelling to Chiron, but it seemed that majority was for some sort of continuation story, with us leaving for the next Planet.

I think many people don't have a really strong opinion about that matter, and their opinion could be swayed if you present your case in favour of the original story clearly.
Personally I'm too in favour of using the original story. I don't see at all what benefits a rewritten background story has, while it does have many drawbacks: having to explain again how all tech was lost, having to rewrite the entire background of our factions and our own character (eg I perfectly like the original origins of Santiago and the Spartans), having to deal with the issue that we were probably all members of an ACDG2 faction before we left Chiron, etcetera, etcetera...

Edit: Some other difficulties are how to explain we have Pravin Lal of the United Nations as a faction while the UN seemed pretty dead on Chiron, and how we again have Hive, UoP and Angel factions which also existed on Chiron before. It's just that IMHO no matter how good the background story would be rewritten (and I'm certain Kody would/will do a good job) there will still be too many unlikely plot holes that make suspension of disbelief too difficult.

With respect to it conflicting stories etc. I don't have a problem. Got over that sort of thing last year.

I've just been running off of the traditional story from Firaxis. Besides, there isn't anything about this that makes it more or less of an athority than Kody's. In other words, it's all entertainment, people!

I'll just like to back Vander up.

Vander did a good job of writing this newspaper up and people shouldn't be so uptight about contridicting stories. What the background story will be is still up in the air because people decided it needed to be democractically decided. It still hasn't been decided.

Also I really don't want to see people demanding that someone's roleplay has to be changed to accommodate other people's views on what is right and wrong, it subtracts from the fun.

Mmm, it's nice in text, Vander. But from a Morgan roleplaying point of view I expect nothing less then flashy magazines with convincing pictures and scentstrips added...

Also, it's still quite Hive-like in the tone (perhaps the poll?).

                          Just my 2 cents.

It's a former Hive comrade who's working on this after all. I'm so proud of you Vander. Bringing some glory to those lazy playboys the only thing who know is counting their money.

And I love the "fungus hugger" touch.
