Yeah now we know why the Hive misinformation campaign is so successful.

As far as I can tell the Ultimatim Insident was concocted out of whole cloth by Jamski in an atempt to force the Hive into going with Cycon, seems he almost succeded, perhaps if we had made a more vocal "carrot" offer for the Hive at this time things would have turned out differnt.

Lets put it this way the pro-cycon members were not impressed. You may have started getting support from the anti-cycon members with Jamski's thing, but the pro-cycon members would have completely shunned you if we thought you were behind it.

No in retrospec, the way to the Hive's heart would have been through its spam. If you fostered spam relations with the Hive then you would have won your perma-pact.

So if you made joint news paper articles, joint story sessions, etc. Orgainising a forum that both Hive and Cycon members could access. Googlie's one we were told not to spam, because of space problems.

Cycon was rather Anit-Spam though so that seems unlikly.

Hrmm, well one of the reasons why the Hive was so fond of you guys was because we thought you were spammers too.

If Geo, Skanky and I joined earlier perhaps , this would then be a lot different.

We've enjoyed the nice spams/roleplays from Drogue, Maniac, correlyn, and others in the early game. That was why we liked them. But later we became a little distrustful to you because of the back and force negotiations and other things. Frankly if you really know the Hive you'll know that Jamski's trick would never work. The Hive's heart can be won through friendship, and never through coersion. Now I think about it, we could build a relationship simply because we both think ourselves is the stronger side and the other the weaker side. This has certainly affected attitudes toward each other and generated bad decisions.

"We could never build a relationship" is what she meant.

Yeah, if that threat you was true, regardless of consequences the Hive would have immediately declared war.

Jamski saw us being so careful not to tick enemies off. However, what he didn't realise that people react differently to a possible threat opposed to an actual verbal threat. A verbal threat would put the Hive's pride on the line, we couldn't back down without losing face. Also it would have been rather isolent to have threatened the Hive as we could have easily matched your military might in a few turns.

We designed the our economy so we had latent military. It's possible to cash crawlers in for prototypes so we could have a bunch of units out within a single turn. We specficially hadn't protoyped many things for that reason. The only problem would be that our tech rate and economy would have suffered if we decided got to war early. Waiting until MMI meant we had very firm economy and technology.

Cycon was fully aware it was weaker then Hive (the power Graph and Secret Project lists made that obvius). We wanted to apear strong enough to be a worthwhial alie so we boasted a lot. Our strategy was far more Momentum oriented then the Hives and we were hoping to assimilate a lot of stuff inorder to give ourselves the nessary Mass to catch up economicaly but war saped all our resorces and we couldnt develop our concoured territory effectivly.

The boasting didn't impress us at all. I think it was slightly detrimental, because it made you sound threatening so people didn't want to help you get to the point where you could attack us.

You started your war fairly early and you were conquoring the pirates who have their empire spread out. Getting better techonology was one thing, improving your economy is far more difficult when playing against a human player.
