Official: Cancel Sea Bases?

i had this discussion a while ago...in a turnchat i believe, but i just never remembered to make the poll for it. anyways...

should we cancel our planned construction of sea bases in the Mouth of Hercules and Sea of Pholus? i ask this because of little interest in governor positions, and the fact that sea bases are more or less useless

anyways, here is a map of the planned sites, each labeled with a number:

hmm, at least one would be nice for, at the least, an early warning system for that section of the coast... governorial duties could fall to centralis or someone could just volunteer...

what does everyone think about these bases, do we need them?

Not really. If we want an EWS, all we need is a few trawlers with Deep Radar. They could help pay for themselves, and would be much cheaper to boot.

Sea bases are useless and hard to defend... Cancel all, I say.

Just cancel them all, we can hit Yang from Capricorn and UNXB, further penetration can be accomplished from conquered (or perhaps planted) bases once his coast is rubble-ized.

And I think site 3 is the place that escorted sea colony pod is heading for right now, very close to Yang's coast.

I say build it then, it would make our jobs much easier if we could base choppers that close.

Cancel the sea Bases.

If we want to build more bases, it would be both safer and more efficient to terraform some terrain up to raise some land.

Land is much more easier to terraform properly.

Besides, this will also have the advantages of having our newly bases being built near existing ones. Not only for protection but also to create roads fasters and have formers and crawlers quickly in place.

The one scheduled for near the Hive Coast (within 3/4 moves fron Hive bases, by chopper, I am in favour of).

I am in favour of sea bases generally, so the other one in the mouth of Hercules at B3 I would be in favour of building.

Is every one aware that there is a sea colony pod out there ( AFAIK). This is not theory anymore.
There is a colony of god knows how many our citizens looking to start a new base/life.

Yes, I am aware of that, and no-one has asked for that abse to be cancelled.

It (pod) is not heading for B3, I thought it was heading much further north and very close to Hive coast.

...? No-one seems interested in governing any new regions, andn they're not going to be used as military bases.
