For now, that means the same preparations we made for the University- probes.

I think Adam's exactly right, although I think infrastructure and citizen facilities need a high priority too.

Probes, infrastructure and SPs now, military (if it's needed) later.

I agree we should continue to build up probes and SPs, but we really need to get off our behinds and start building a military too - how much longer can we go on without an effective army? We can't keep Morgan happy with tech trades forever, and we're going to need to fight the Hive at some point too.

As for grabbing the Command Nexus: HELL YES! If we find the base that has it on a coast, then Mind Controlling that base (and garrisoning it) should be priority #1 after infiltration.

          As far as military goes,

I guess that we should accomplish two objectives in the short term :

          - Infiltrate all the other factions.

          - Prototype and upgrade defense garrison ( Attack 1 - Defense : Max infantry with perharps 1/2 special abilities).

But frankly, we can no go over like this. Just Keeping scout infantry and rover will do us no good should we get attacked.

Maybe we could upgrade a few of our infantry garrison ?

I think mind-controlling the CN base is an excellent idea, for several reasons:
            • our military is nowhere near readiness for this sort of invasion
            • siezing the CN will help greatly in preparing our military might
            • instant garrison
            • we might then acquire prototyped gatling/ plasma units in the process

This strategy has as-yet-unmentioned ramifications that carry over into the SE discussions of wealth vs. knowledge. First, we will need a huge quantity of energy to mind-control a decent sized base (a wealth+GA bonus to energy reserves would be tremendously helpful in that regard). Secondly, the probe penalty of knowledge would make the siezure of the base more expensive.

By the way, where is the Command Nexus located ?

If it is in their headquarters,no mind control will be possible.

                Rats! Never mind:

It's at The Hive; you can see that from the F5 screen.
So much for that. Still, the mind-control siezure of their southernmost coastal base (for the right price, of course, and with adequate defensive probe support) would be a good jumping-off point for an offensive against their headquarters.

I'd rather Pact Zak and attack from his bases, with a few rovers landed a square away from the Hive to try and take it, if it's not *too* heavily guarded. Lets probe him quickly, then we can switch to Knowledge to help our military in its build up.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: it would be lunacy to get Zakh involved at this time. Yang would eat him for lunch, and all it would achieve would be to make him stronger.

Yes, I completely agree GT. I don't think we should get Zak to declare war on the Hive, just to Pact us and make our invasion easier. But hopefully that's a little way off, and Zak mau well be stronger by then (especially if we give/trade techs with him)

I totally agree that the time is not right for involving Zak in this vendetta. He is weak and close to the Hive, while we are weak and too far away to help at the moment.

However, when we are in a position to invade Hive territory, it will be helpful to have Zak's bases as a mobilizing point and as a diversion of Yang's forces. It will then be too late for Yang to overrun the University, since we'll be busy overrunning the Hive.

We can't trade any techs to Zak, because he would then trade them to Yang...

That's why we've always voted 'don't trade away important techs'.

If Yang attacks Zak then most of his Offensive Forces will be away form his Homebases...
Best we make Zak declare on Yang then switch Allianges and take our Slice of Zak.
Zak has to be killed anyway so..
Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal!

But we are Peacekeepers!!! How can we justify turning on our ally? Besides, if Zak is allowed to take his slice of Yang (our natural enemy) he will make an excellent tech trading partner later in the game.
