M2ni@c can you , as founding member] formulate the first draft [not yet offical ] cover-ops policy. so that we can discuss the policy in more detail. because i love the policy u wrote. that is on top of the thread

I'm for the use of probes for defensive and inflitration purposes. But I'm against any use of them for another mission in peacetime. But during wartime, I think they can be used for all the missions we want, excepted atrocities.

This is a Juliennew quote I believe. With some word changes (I->We) this fits quite well I believe. We could add no framing of factions we're at peace with etcetera. We could say we give a high importance to the HSA. There is one point we haven't reach a consensus on though. Pod popping with probe teams and foils. Will we do that? TKG doesnt like the idea. But how else will we explore and pop pods when we're FM? We can't send out regular sea units unless we would have two prisoner bases. I doubt our faction will be that criminal.

I hardly use probes to podpop, but then again i pop only the first 30 turns. but i like the idea of probepopping but beside probeskimschips popping pods what else do they do?

something else? do anyone ever use APC? (rover with armor and transportbay)

With a huge map I suppose we will still be exploring after 2200, when I hope we are already FM. Probe skimships explore and infiltrate coastal bases besides popping. If a regular ship discovers a faction on the other side of the world, we would first have to construct a probe skimship and send it on a decade-long journey to the other end of the world before we know anything about these guys.

I've heard other people talk about rover transports as well and seem to be enthousiastic about it. Personally I never build on. So I'm wondering, what do you use them for? Faster transport of infantry?

Sorry but what is Podpopping ? And Probe skimships ?

podpopping= scouting for unity pods and walk over them (that the pop part )

probe skimships are foil with a probeteam on them and no weapon) !

i just tested APC`s and they make a rover move only 1 so never mind. i remembered that it always worked but never mind now.

if it worked it would be great for a fast task force. quickly insert some APC`s with elite units and take over a base before they have time to prepare defenses and we have time to make a real army ready.

I don't usually use probes for podpopping but as Maniac said, it could be very usefull since we will play on a huge map : It will reduce the time to probe factions.

Same things for probe skimships.

But I leave this question to the experts because I don't use probes very much in my games.

about the PB`s I still think we could build them because of two reasons..

1. I have looked at the civIII game and they are constantly perparing wars. why? because the citizen want it. I think we will be fighting a lot more then we think. so why shouldnt we be perpared for a all out war.

2. I believe the detterence will not only work against use of PB but also against convential war
