Judging from the look of this thread, the Morgans will be the winner for the next game.

HongHu! How can you say that! Since Kody hasn't joined anyone, there is still a lot of possibilities.SMAC/X FAQ | Chiron Archives

But they are 7 vs 2 of us! And 1 each from the others. They are not a concern any more I think.Be good, and if at first you don't succeed, perhaps failure will be back in fashion soon. -- teh Spamski

Consider this the eigth Morganic NO vote...
Honestly, I´d love to see that implemented in a SP demogame, but not here since it would screw any faction capped in base ressource gathering.
Who sais the non-builders weren´t allowed to build millions of crawlers/formers? May the better played faction win, not the one with the most advatages right from the start....Heinrich, King of Germany, Duke of Saxony in Cyclotron's amazing Holy Roman Empire NES

Because of their population caps, they have to build crawlers to have the same production levels as other factions from each base. This could conceivably be avoided with ICS, but then you run into Bureaucracy problems. So crawlers are the Morganites' supplier of choice.Adam T. Gieseler

The crawler restriction would have far more impact on strategies or tactics used rather than which faction.
The main ones I can think of are to do with base density, whether you're going specialist, amount of drone control you need, and how much economic buildup you're planning. These things aren't very unique to any faction, so I would say the comparative benefits or disadvantages for any particular faction isn't as servere as people think.
I do think it will help the the teams that have weak economic strategies. Morgan ofcourse needs a fairly strong economic strategy so admitly it does affect him more.
There are ofcourse alternatives to crawlers, you just need to think outside the box, I've figured out a tactic that can actually pays better dividens than building crawlers under certain circumstances (works well for gaian and spartans), but takes more effort to setup. Still need to balance development with crawlers ofcourse as you need the base minerals and nutrients and crawlers are essential for SPs.Last edited by Kody; June 17, 2004, 02:07.
