Right. I could do this moderating thing. I just realised I have a whole summer of very very little to do ahead of me

          So it looks like:

          Creator: Buster

          Moderators: Drogue & Method

          Narrator: Kody

          I'd vote for these choices

That also looks like a nice set up and I will support it. I was wonding about a few extra details as well.

If Buster makes the map but isnt a Moderator or Narator perhaps he could be the "Strategy Comentator" basicaly looking at the turns, visits forums, intervies leaders and keeps a secret diary that focuses on the strategies used by each faction. Then at the end of the game we get to hear "Such and such faction REALY doomed themselves when they failed to do X resulting Faction Y having the oportunity to do..."

An idea, if Buster isnt any kind of Judge or arbitrator then perhaps he could be the Strategy Oracle and give advice to all the teams.

Drouge and OctavianX manage the Judge/Arbitor type desision. Punish teams for infractions, punish individuals for breaking the rules. Press "End Turn" when factions are late with their turns ect ect.

Kody acts as Historian which mean he relentlesly reads the forums and writes RolePlaying oriented stories of whats happening between factions and keeps thouse stories for a period of time untill he deams them safe to released in the main forum. He also collecta and compiles all the stories submited by members of the factions and integrates the whole thing into a great Cronicle. He can also write stories for the AI factions to get their side of the story (obviosly lots of creative Freedom their). To be Honest Hong Hu might also be a good candidate for this kind of thing as she wrote a lot of material last game, but perhaps she will miss the oportunity to put herself in her stories and would rather stay Queen of the Gaians.

I think Octavian X would a good moderator. But surely we also need a moderator who is familar with Pbem rules and the allowable exploits.

                      *ponders*

If I actually get voted as the narrator, could there be a mod forum. That way things could be more easily archived and I could get feedback from the other mods while I'm writing stuff. It would be good also for helping me decide what could be posted in the main forum and what should be kept under wraps.

I'm actually not very good at working alone, need some form of support like I got from Honghu and Voltaire last game. So it would be nice having somewhere I could communicate with the other mods on things.

Plus I think I tend to quietly go insane when I don't have somewhere to offload my worries. I can't count the number of times Honghu and Voltaire kept me from doing something stupid simply by giving a 2nd opinion.

Also could there be more than 1 narrator? I mean with 2 people, perhaps not only could histories be kept. But also a few roleplaying events or activities be organised, so in the long run it would be more fun for everyone.

Finally, if I do become an narrator, I would perfer that stories be allowed to deviate from the actual game within reasonable limits. That way stories that aren't completely factual can be shared between factions. I'll promise I'll keep factual accounts separate so later people can figure out what was story and what was real.

Need to think about exactly how much time this might take too. If it's okay for me to disappear for a month then have an really really active month, that would fit in great with the way I work and play.

I think the stories should avoid saying anything that didnt actualy HAPPEN in the game such as "we discovered this tec when we havent" or "these character take a ride in a Neddle jet in 2105" or Base such and such is obliterated" when its not.

Better to make up fake encounters I think. HongHu dose a nice job in her stories of focusing on the actions, motivations and movments of individuals which the game never adresses. All you need do is pull a few details from the game and work them into the story you get good context without any potential for a conflict.

Theirs also potential to write short stories that describe a particular event in the game, these would contain lots of information about the event like ware its happened who was involved (idealy individuals on both sides will have been involved if its a battle or something).

Another potential story revolves around diplomacy. By skimming the Diplomatic threads of a faction a writer could creat a sumarized internal or external diplomacy story in which the the arguments everyone made are sumarized and lots of details are added example

"Colonel Maniac took his seat at the Planetary Counsil meating in the forfront of the Spartan wing with all the coldness of a life long soldiar his bairly decorated camo uniform bairly rustling do to its sound dampening fibers. The Spartans truely were prepared to fight to the last man and equiped everyone to do so. Across from him Lady Hong Hu refused to even ackolage his presence as Gaian protocall requires when a state of Vendetta exist.

With all the members now asembled Planetary Govenor Pravin Lal stood at the main podium the huge active tapestry of the Unity spacecraft and Chiron system morphed into and enlarged view of the Govenor. His gentle yet amplified indian voice boomed across the counsil chamber "With all Factions deligations present and accounted for I as acting Planetary Govenor hearby call this the 7th meeting of the Planetary Counsil to order. Our first order of buisness is to consider for debate and floor vote the Global Trade Pact proposed by CEO Impaler of the Morganic Faction, I now turn the Chair over to him".

The CEO in his trim black buisness suit and synthetic lepard skin hat looked like well a million Credits, obsenely large plasma acreated Emerald rings adorned each of his hands which themselves grasped the critical trade pact proposal that would today be signed into global law IF he played his hand right. "Greatings my fellow deligates I hope that today I speak to you on the first day of a new era of economic freedom for our humble planet" Chairman Yang of the Hives rude cough would otherwise have been bairly audable if not for his systhetic voice enhancer. The CEO continued "As you all know this treaty will lower all tarif barriers to trade between us and our economic simulations predict a doubling of comerce betwwen ALL factions moving us ever closer to an Energy based Economy. We Morgans are quite well aware of the vote count and only one of 3 uncomited factions need be swayed to pass this resolution, We offer a lone of 400 Energy Credits to the first such faction to join us in passing this resolution".

Lady HongHu and Colonel Maniac imediatly requested to be recognized, they both knew that Yang would never support such liberal economic policies and that this was realy a waiting game between them, who would be first to cave into the Morganic tactic. They both needed thouse Credits for their war efforts and they would each benifit from the commerce themselves. But they both knew the Morganites would gain FAR more then anyone else and they ran the risk of facilitating the Morganics total economic domination of the planet.

Lady Hong Hu was recognized first and stood to speak "My dear CEO your offer is quite tempting but we could never accept the Credits of a faction who's economic policies so profoundly damage the planets biosphere, if you could instead off your information on Polymorphic Software to us we would be willing to consider your offer". The CEO alowed only the briefest frown to pass across his face, it was a bold move but not wholely unexpected.....

Well that ran much longer that I had expected but you get the general drift I hope, sumarize the details and add literary fluff to the whole thing.

Edit: ok made Paragraphs are you happy now Enigma?

                            Paragraphs Impaler I'm begging you!!!

I would perfer that stories be allowed to deviate from the actual game within reasonable limits
I think flexibility in some issues should be given to allow for storyline development. However, if it's obviously there just for boasting then I don't consider it nessacry.

I don't consider people regularly claiming to build an SP they didn't, or researching a tech they didn't as reasonable. However, maybe a fudging of truth like the high council was considering building this SP, blah blah blah etc would be reasonable if you were actually concentrating on other issues. Also while writing the IC story in the Hive we made up diplomatic problems with the drones etc.

Meetings with non-official members in story would be okay in my opinion, just as long as there's something like so and so is shipwreaked and finds himself with another faction.

Or the Morgan underworld leaders have smugglers that can contact the Spartans (even if Morgan doesn't have com frequency).... but that's so secret the Morgan government doesn't know about it. However, a young smuggler goes off on a mission to obtain impact rifles from the Spartans and make his fortune in morgan.
