I think it's a better idea to have a sort of concil running this game, with the differing positions mentioned before. A group of three CMNs, gods, mods, or whatevers, would be good. It'll make them more impartial, and open up the administration of the game to more opinions.

Umm, so. Do we have any idea on what we should poll or should we make a multiple choice combination poll which allows us to let the community decide who we want and what job do we want for him to do? I guess with three nominees that could be doable, but such a poll is also very prone for a mistake that voids the whole thing.

Where some see "open up the admin of the game to more opinions", others see "more bureaucracy to slow things down". You see, even though this is a demo game, some prefer an authoritarian streak to make things smoother. Not that I'm one of them, a council sounds like a good option.

However, I've been out of the loop for too long to be doing any kind of informed decisions on this stuff, which is why I'm running around in circles at the moment and hoping for someone to say something.

lol, just that Googlie has set up the Morganite´s private forum and thus knows our plans and the such.

I would be much more interested in hearing the reason for Googlie´s dislike of "his" faction! Googlie, what did we do?

                - God, the Tassadaresque arbiter.
                - CMN, controls the technical aspect of the game, sets it up, etc.
I can do either/both of the first two, and I'd especially like the arbitership, but the last should be Buster or Googlie's, IMHO. I can't C a game. I think we need one Creator, and an arbiter/moderator.

BTW: Since CMN is Creator, Moderator, Narrator, of the three above, ones the M, ones the N and the last is the C. Having a CMN would be all of them.

                  Googlie did well, didn't he?

                  Buster's OK, right?

What's wrong with Tass? I have heard complaints but don't know the basis for them. He's been testy sometimes but has worked out well, hasn't he?

By definition, a mod works out well for those who benefit from his ruling, and is the worst mod in the world for those who do not

Which, btw, is why I consider Ming the worst mod in the world.

Edit: Regardless though, I have stated on numerous occasions that I have no wish to be mod again.

There are several steps that need to be taken for the ACDG III game:

                      Creator:

Finalize rules that ACDG III will adhere to
                      Drawing the map
                      Assigning the start positions
                      Tweaking the AI
                      Testing, testing, testing
                      Assigning passwords
                      Moving the first turn

                      **************************

                      Moderator:

Ming appoints an overall Moderator(s) who will:

                      > Get Apolyton to establish Private Forums for the 4 factions
                      > work with Ming to appoint Private Forum administrators (to allow access)
                      > provide advance ruling(s) for possibly contentious actions
                      > adjudicate in-game disputes
                      > provide ongoing policing of the game and compliance with the agreed-upon rules

                      ****************************

                      Narrator:

Largely discontinued CMN function (I started "The View from Above" but it early on became a conundrum as to how to give away information without compromising teams' confidential workings and plans, so I discontinued it)

Googlie maybe what the Narrator could do is get approval, for any story segment he/she wrote, from the faction.

Perhaps even have story segments that only get approval for viewing for specific other factions. Like having, it's okay for data angels and gaians to see this, but we don't want morgan and spartans knowing about it.

You could have like multiple story threads happening that are intertwined. And people that are in the factions can only see parts of the story thread that are their own, or are segements approved for viewing from other factions. Only the Narrator, or I guess mods can see all the parts. I reckon that would be really interesting seeing how the tale unfolds and later seeing the full story after the game.

The Narrator would is essence head any roleplay we have in the public forums. He/She, in addition to what Kody and Googlie have stated, could also, then, advocate for RP activity in the public forum.

And, all three of our 'staff' should be given access to all forums, for various overseeing and regulartory reasons, and so that evidence is available to all in the event that they need to work out a dispute.

Well it doesn't have to follow the ACDG exactly. I was thinking something along the lines of what the Hive had.

I think all the others are busy reading the private forums now.
You should read the Hive IC story threads. Lots of mindworms in there too.
