I was thinking along similar lines, Tassadar -- something Buddhist-ish, a dash of Zen, a healthy amount of Hive nihilism, and some New-Age-ish seasonings. Stir until well mixed, serves the glory of the Hive.
Or something like that. Want to team up?Adam T. Gieseler

Sounds good, Maniac. Voltaire: Who says we're communist? Sure, we will be if the right people gain power, and all will praise the worker's movement and our glorious forefather Karl Marx. But the Hive can be played many ways... I'm partial to something that emulates nature myself. Then there's the religious angle (Fundamentalist rather than Police State). And there's always naked power politics.
Really, there are as many ways to play the Hive as there are Hive players. But one thing's for certain -- to survive, the faction members had better be willing to publically emulate the ideology on top.Last edited by AdamTG02; September 9, 2003, 00:42.Adam T. Gieseler

Actually, I think we can work elections with the Hive fairly well. Simply assume that everyone in the DG is on the Hive's Central Committee, or whatever we want to call it -- whatever Yang (and now Voltaire) is the Chairman of.
Also, I like a lot of the ideas for the military coup stuff, though there's too much for me to read all of it and properly process it right now. I'll have to come back later and go through it more slowly before I can make any specific comments.

And just regarding the original thread subject - yes, political parties should definitely make a comeback, and hopefully the nature of our faction will put a stop to the incessant economics debates (FM is useless and Green loses a lot of it's advantages, so Planned is undoubtedly the best choice), thus aloowing us to find something more interesting to discuss.

I agree with what Maniac and AdamTG02 have said, it seems to be an effective way of simulating a communist totalitarian environment. Not to imply that the Hive is totalitarian in any way, just ask its current members, we're a nice little socialist paradise.

Anyway, I was actually thinking of some Hindu-Buddhist-Taoist mix with a touch of Nietzsche as well.Last edited by Drogue; September 9, 2003, 06:27.Smile

GT has it right, later it was changed to The Scientific Axis...coincidentally when Bush started with the Axis of Evil thing
Imagine a utilitarian cross between Nietzsche and Sartre, with just a dash of evilness<Kassiopeia> you don't keep the virgins in your lair at a sodomising distance from your beasts or male prisoners. If you devirginised them yourself, though, that's another story. If they devirginised each other, then, I hope you had that webcam running.

My thoughts exactly As one party or as an alliance? I had tried to join TSA but it was closed by then
As for a name, I thought of the Free Nihilist Party since Free Nihilism was Nietzsche's idea that the world has no purpose and no overall order, but that it made you free in your actions and will. However with this party, the free is ironic, and I'd follow Sartre's Existentialist ideas that life is gratuitous (hence the easy evil opportunities) and has no purpose, but that there was determinism. That goes with Yang's quotes of not uselessly hindering ourselves because of petty emotional foibles, like peopel who complain of the use of undead in the military, or that cannibalism is 'morally wrong' Also goes with the push for more knowledge, regardless of the ethicalness. However we will obviously need a Finn on board, for that added evil bonusSmile

I'm sure there's enough existentialism to go around.
Maybe our factions will end up working together, given our common Nietzschean roots. I'd like to try something that incorporates some Eastern religions, though -- mixing them with Western existentialism seems the best way to fit them into the Hive. So, Maniac, it sounds like we're a team if you're stil willing.Adam T. Gieseler

What I've heard sounds good.
Edit:
So, Maniac, it sounds like we're a team if you're stil willing.
First, since we're probably going with a one party system, the word "society" would be more fitting.
Second, I disagree with the word "nihilist". Nihilism says the universe has no purpose. That's way too depressing and pessimistic IMO. I would rather say the purpose of the universe is the universe itself. The end result is the same, namely that our lives don't have some "higher" meaning, but I still consider my way of saying it more optimistic, and leading to a totally different view on life.Last edited by Maniac; September 9, 2003, 15:02.
