So your up to some REAL challenges, huh? Here's a 10 year old one. A frog is climbing up a well. It is 10 feet from water line to the top of well. Each day he climbs up 3 feet, each night he slips down 2 feet. After how many days will he be on the top of the well? You've got 30 seconds. Quick! Write down your answer, don't cheat!

Here's a 12 year old one. Two trains are running toward each other at a speed of 100 miles per hour. The distance between them is 2000 miles. A butterfly flys between them at a speed of 200 miles per hour. When he reaches the face of one train, he turns around to reach another, and so on, and so force. How many miles would the butterfly have flied before he got crashed?

        Answers inside.

        Spoiler:
        1) After eight days I guess.
        2) 1333.33+444.44+...= I have better things to do with my time.

How can you put this in a formula?
              (2000*2/3)+(2000*2/9)+(2000*2/27)...
I guess it's some kind of limit or derivate (don't know the correct English terms)??? Damn it. It's only one year ago I started in university, but I've already forgotten most of the mathematics I've learned in my 8-hours-math-per-week course in secondary school.

Trains will meet after they each travel half way to the other... time= (2000 miles/2) / 100miles/hour = 10 hours

Butterfly will fly for those ten hours, then die in the crash... 10h x 200m/h = 2,000 miles.

Or would the pressure wave force the butterfly up and out of the trains' paths, to safety?

This is a trap for the most intellegent. (I fell to the same trap 9 years ago. ) This is why 12 year olds can find out the answer much quicker than you and me.
