Towards the end of the game about when you hit the modern era; it varies a little depending on map size and the number of units on the world map but even my 1090T six core processor and my Radeon 5770 start to slow down to 1 minute between turns even on just a standard map. I have 8 gigs of 1600hrz RAM too so there really is no excuse for this to be happening... About 200 the speed gets slow and stays that way until the end.
