With 1UPT...
I find myself buidling a lot fewer units and working to get them promoted more.
I am developing new stategies to match the situation. One thing I sometimes do is build combat roads to allow positioning my units for the rush of a city. Then deconstruct the roads afterwards to save money.
With out the ability of stacking a defender with a week ranged unit, I use fewer of them and work to advance them to range 3.
1UPT isn't bad. It is just different. It can be fun figuring out ways to use it to advantage.
I find that with fewer units, my late game turns go much faster than with Civ4.

I miss combat roads. In civ IV, any city near a boarder was encircled by roads to aid in fighting off attacks by giving you the ability of quickly targeting enemy troops in designated killing fields. In one up those extra roads can be critical just as a place to position troops for quick response. Now that they cost, you have to be more judicious in their use. I don't know why road sprawl was considered so bad that they had to discourage it. No matter how many hexes you made the US, with maybe the exception of Alaska, every hex would have a road in it.It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. what Cyber said , Civ V with "worst" feature from Civ I and II would be a lot better than it is.
It also says a lot about the state Civ V is in too.Socrates: "Good is That at which all things aim, If one knows what the good is, one will always do what is good." Brian: "Romanes eunt domus"

problem is that only a handful of people who still play Civ V will vote... but hey, will be interesting to see what do current players who still find fun in the game despite numerous flaws think.Socrates: "Good is That at which all things aim, If one knows what the good is, one will always do what is good."
