I found that, when you take something you find enjoyable and do as a hobby, and change it so there's a boss riding you, with deadlines, enforced minutae, etc., it loses something in the translation.

Fairly true. Still, it wouldn't stop me. I've already worked for a site that facilitate info on World of Warcraft, and there's rarely a harder-to-please crowd than a bunch of angry MMO'ers. This job is a different nature, but it would still be awesome.
