I'd like to see something in Ci V that was present in CIV I but absent (IIRC) from CIV II, that is, enhanced unit movement along rivers.

Civ III sucked imho.
Firaxis has also shown they're able to learn from mistakes and incorporate lessons learned from the past in new releases of the game. I would hope that improving their testing and game design approach is one of these areas that they improve, having shown to be deficient in the past.

Yes, if they move to that type of micromanagement on resources, I will give up on the series.
As it is, I actually have stared to *GASP* automate workers earlier in the game just because I get tired of telling them what to do.It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

Well, I was fortunate enough to get some sit-down media time with Civ V at PAX East, and I've written up my initial impressions. Not too much new information, but it was exciting to see things in action and get some tidbits of new information: http://www.spectaclerock.com/2010/03...ivilization-v/

While that's not very satisfying for those of us who want to know now, that's just the nature of the process.

"...but it also means that individual, experienced units become far more valuable. As the Firaxis representative explained, you are far more likely now to end up with a unit with a deep history and a deep personal attachment; perhaps the Mech. Infantry you are using to take your opponents final capital started it’s life as a Spearman some thousands of years earlier, and that can mean a lot to a player. "
I had not seen this expressly stated this way before. Nice article, ZargonX!
