Okay. Haven't played any other version than the Windows version and a DOS version I have understood was released a while after. I might be wrong on that though, I wasn't very old at that time, born in 1986 and all.

Amigas did have windows (note little w), occasionally.
Civ1 was not windowed in them days. You also had to keep changing discs unless you turned off lots of options.One day Canada will rule the world, and then we'll all be sorry.Comment

What are the worst things?
Civ 1: 1 hp units (made combat far too unpredictable)
Civ 2: the game was way too easy to win (I never lost once on any level!)
