Yep! But let´s not get this thread closed because of OT-threadjacking. DanQ just closed a whole bunch of those in the A/C-forum. I´m feeling a bit guilty to some of them...

Well, neither of them are supposed to be very mod-friendly... and SMAC is too dark... but considering that I refuse to buy Civ III as I see it as a downgrade (1/2 the leaders; less civs, etc) I'll vote SMAC.

Civ III is my choice. No, not to irritate TKG and Lemmy after the debacle on IRC about Civ III and if it's bad or good.

So, why do you choose it? I believe you owe the majority an explanation. Then after you see the error of your ways, you can correct your attitude to concur with the majority

                SMAC

I still don't understand why they left out some of SMAC's diplomacy out from Civ3. I think Civ3 was a step backwards in some ways.
Cake and grief counseling will be available at the conclusion of the test. Thank you for helping us help you help us all!

SMAC is dark, the fungus and the mindworms are amazingly gross, the leaders are ugly, and the way they relate to you is annoying. Civilization III doesn't install on my computer. SMAC by default.

                    Civ3, with it's shiny 3d graphics
...which means that you have to get a Overclocked P4-4,5Ghz and 512 Mb RAM to play it on huge maps?

                    nice AI
Which only keeps with the player by having entire map and obscure amounts of
starting units. And which keeps building cities behind your border, praying to get flipped.

                    historical units and civilizations
                    Hmmh. IIRC:
From Europe, there are about 10 civs, all of them have been with a close contact with UK/England.
From America, there are two civs, which both formed after 14th century.
From Africa, there is one militaristic civ from 19th century.
From Asia, there are 2 world's biggest and longest living civilizations.
                    And one imperialistic, small one.

                    Sounds great to me.

                    AC, goddammit.

i believe there is an option to make SMAC brighter BTW...
The only easy way that I know of is the Gamma correction.

/me starts looking for his IRC logs.

Just a sec. I haven't promised you an explanation, so then I don't owe you one either. But you can check the Civ III foras for some old posts by me.

Hey, i had to show some sign of neutrality in my first post, if was honest i would scare all the civ3-players away
<Kassiopeia> you don't keep the virgins in your lair at a sodomising distance from your beasts or male prisoners. If you devirginised them yourself, though, that's another story. If they devirginised each other, then, I hope you had that webcam running.

Too much work... I just thought that since Lemmy asked a question and since you prefer the inferior Civ3, you would want to explain why...

But I see you got some company now...

Nevermind... here you go, little Smacists.

Civ III - good in my opinion, because of...

                            - Bartering table and nice resource system.
                            - Improved graphics (3D).
                            - New concepts like UUs and culture.
                            - Working game play and interface.
