Just played it for the first time. There's no way the guys I know will finish even the simple game in 3 hours. First time through, after 3 hours we just climbed out of the ancient age into the medieval. Lots of fun though. Planning a whole day session soon to really try it out.

There are board and card games that are far more fun "multiplayer" than any computer game I've ever played. To doubt everything or to believe everything are two equally convenient solutions; both dispense with the necessity of reflection.

I've got a couple of boardgames with lots of rules that could have padded out to 50 pages had they included backstory, screenshots and other trivia. You need to be a student with a week to spare to play them of courseLast edited by Grumbold; November 6, 2002, 14:29.To doubt everything or to believe everything are two equally convenient solutions; both dispense with the necessity of reflection.

I don't think it will replace the original Civilisation if you enjoy playing that. The game is quite different conceptually. Hopefully it should give you a nice alternative choice (I wish I knew people prepared to play several games of original Civ a year - once a year is about as much as I manage). To doubt everything or to believe everything are two equally convenient solutions; both dispense with the necessity of reflection.

...I'm going to wait on buying this one until the first patch is released. I'd rather not have my dining room table suddenly burst into flames after entering the middle ages...
...or is this the only Multiplayer Civ III that will currently run?"Those who do not know history are doomed to repeat it. And those who do know history repeat it just for fun."

Anyway, I actually love board games and I would like to have the Civ Board game along with the original from Avalon Hill but the problem is getting together to play with friends. Especially, since most of my board games are in English or Greek and I live in Germany.

I used to play Axis&Allies over the net with AOL years ago, and it worked fine with a GM. ??To doubt everything or to believe everything are two equally convenient solutions; both dispense with the necessity of reflection.

BTW, I was at my local hobby shop, and they now have A&A games for JUST Europe, and one for JUST the Pacific. A bit more detailed gameplay and maps it looks like
