      The U.N. has landed on planet. You can look foward to our beurocrats making life difficult for everyone.

      I seem to have the faction graphics mixed up. I hope this isn't a problem.

        Ah, yes - it's a *feature* of scenarioed PBEMs.

        The gameturn uses the factions that were last loaded on your .ini file from the last game you played, in slot order.

        So if, for example, - well let's look at the actual ...

        The game set-up order is:

        Gaians
        Hive
        UoP
        Sparta
        PKs
        Pirates
        Drones

        (the order in which factions appear in the selection box when choosing a faction)

        There are 2 cures

        First is to enter the alphacentauri.ini before you open the game and just edit the seven factions to that list

        Or, for those not comfortable with that, just, before opening the turn, start a new game with those seven factions, land the pod, then exit. Those then will be the faction graphics that load when you load the turn.

        Most of us just get used to seeing Aki's face when dealing with the Pirates, or Marr as the Chairman, or whatever (and, of course, it won't be the same graphics every time you play a turn - it'll depend on the last game saved)

        G.
        So whatever the last game you played was, your .ini file remembers it's order, and then assigns those graphics when it opens this one

          The Flames have Flashed upon the Sea... I shall now begin dominating the trade routes therein.

          (And continue to scratch me head regarding the .ini files arrr...)

          2102 off to illiria.

          On another note... and to alert everyone to the fact... I do generally have rather hectic weekends... if I'm not around, never fear, on Sunday night, I'll be here...

          I hate it when I rhyme!

            2102--> Wgabrie

            The University has found a nice little spot to commence research.
            Our first research subject: the obliteration of all those who do not from a past of submission with us.

              The Mac version of Alpha Centauri doesn't use a *.ini file. It uses an un-editable preference file found in your system folder. I have tested option #2 from above and it works. You might also try deleting the Alpha Centauri prefs file.

              Admiral is that a challenge? Bring it on hippie!

                2103 --> illiria

                The illustrious Seas of this new and unconquered world have begun to be Mine.

                Research all you wish, Admiral, for it will bring you to no avail if you do not also understand the Sea...

                (I love role-playing, if it's not obvious by now. )

                (Yes, wgabrie, I think that was a challenge...)

                  2103 -> Admiral.

                  By no means have we reached the place of the illumnated ones, but we are quite close to utopia.

                    Do not doubt the power of the University. Our military is experiencing success on all fronts (even if the oonly adversary is unexplored terrain)

                      No matter how great a tech lead the University has, we will still sue them if war comes our way.

                            The University (2104-->Wgabrie) takes pleasure in examining the remanents of worms encountered in our exploration. Perhaps, someday, we will be able to emulate the pys attacks...
