Just got the game, and I got to say, I like it. I am glad I got it. The game is more streamlined and it has a faster game play. Took me a while to get use to, but I like the changes.
I find researching tech every 4 or 5 turns a bit of a turn off, but I guess is it's just the begining of the game. I just researched currency. I just don't understand how I am in the industrial age yet.
I thought I would be turned off by the cartoonie graphics, but starting to like it now. My son just love how combat looks. One complaint I do have is the Mr Bean talk that all advisors and leaders do. Even my son dosn't like it lol.
All in all, I am glad I got it, and seem to be playing it more than Civ 4. Guess since there is no lag, the one more turn, just one more turn is back for me. Just hate how we all have to tweak Civ 4 to get it to play.
As others have said, I wish the games were larger, just find it a bit too small.
So here is my questions. How are the DLC? I got all the ones are for free, playing the game, so once I get use to it, I will get the DLC that I have to pay for.
The one with the Earth map, I see it's a MP game. Can I play this on SP as well? I don't have Live Gold so no MP for me, and don't plan on playing MP when I do have gold.
Are all the map sizes the same? I am thinking they are. No options for map size, and number of civilizations in the game, so I guess it's standard.
Is it always just one huge continent and small islands or is it mixed? I would like to be 2 continents so some naval warfare will happen. In my current game, I can't see no reason to have it.
Also what DLC do you suggest, and what should I stay away from?
Also any tips or suggestions you guys and gals have, I would love to hear them.

Then there is the more serious competition at Deity level. Last week I managed to do that at 600BC with a neat trick to get to Feudalism ultra-fast and win domination by Knight armies. But this week, the Deity level is real tough. You start from a small island as Indians, the big continent has French, Arabs, Russians and Japanese. By the time I got to them, they were all too strong to knock over with Knight armies. By the time i got tanks, the French almost won by culture victory. By the time I beat them, the Russians were nearing economic victory and the other two nations both finished the Space tech and started building the space ships for technology victory, I barely managed to rush the UN to win by culture myself. This was my first ever game against the AI that I almost lost at several points. I warmly recommend it!
