the zugguarit of ka-umen
the zugguarit of ka-umen is a heptagonal monolith crafted of obsidian blocks seven feet on a side, and its base set seventy-seven blocks on an edge. it rises seven stores into the air, with copper spires running up the verticies meeting at a single point in the center of the top tier. though the originial builders have long since vacated, and the purpose of this artifact lost, it is believed by sages that the zugguarit is some kind of probability mainipulator, greatly enhancing profits in favor of resident merchants.
however, in the city of Ka-Umen, violent crime and general animosity of the public at large seems to be at an all time high. other cities of similar size and stature do not suffer a third of the crime, and the source can only be assumed to be the zugguarit.
as an historical not, when Ka-Umen and much of the northern territories were overrun by Ueshethen barbarians during Fea's War (717-739 CE), the city was used as an impromptu capital by General Gunther Stalq, also the Premier of Fea's Legion. during the Night of the Tempest, the seven spires were struck innumerable times by a storm of such ferocity, the likes of which have yet to be seen since then. one survivor's account of that night recalls an eerie violet glow, and the sounds of inconprehensible whispering throughout Ka-Umen thant night. but the shock of finding the Ueshethen invaders dead by their own blades for two hundred miles around, was probably the greatest act of the mysterious zugguarit.
