Gramphos, I guess you (as the File manager) are the right person to turn to.
The file appears to be damaged, since i can't download it fully...the DL stops at 97% and I can't use the map therefore.
Could you please check this? Or even put it up somewhere else on this server?
I'd really appreciate your help.
Thanks,

awesome: only one complaint:
for a 256x256, there is a serious lack of resources. I was checking it out in the editor, and dude, you need to spice up the map a bit. Also why so little bonus grassland? I notices huge sections of grassland with not a single bonus tile. It looks accurate, and is totally awesome - but something must be done about the resources.
Also - a similar, smaller map would be sweet. Just a suggestion/
Otherwise, awesome job![size=1]"As night fell she emerged with a box under her arm that held her pledge of allegiance and her uniform. She laid it at the gates of the General's embassy and her whisper echoed into dawn as she disappeared: The truth will set my people free."

Great Work ! THE BEST MAP OF EUROPE so far (and i`ve been looking for a long long long time.)
But with the 4 turn/tech prob the game doesn`t make sense.
And I really still got problems to use the .c3b file wich was inclouded to start in the right positions. i think the best way to use a .c3b file is the way you can use it like in MARLA`s Word Map.
NORM YOU DID THE BEST WORK ON EUROPE I´VE EVER SEEN, maybe the size is to big cause even my computer slows down so much to calculate the next turn....
...try on and this basic will end like Marla`s map even on the official civ3 page - sure !

getting correct starting positions
I guess I'm new to this but I've been trying to play this with correct starting positions, because I want to be Germany and have the rest of the civs in their correct places.
Could someone take me through the steps, including what I need to download first, in order to get correct positions?
Thanks a lot!

<bump>
All right...ages have passed since the previous release...now I'm working on 1.3 (actually I already had a 1.4 ready but hard disks have this nasty habit of crashing sometimes..)
Anyways, to the updates:
-The science problem has been fixed.
-Decided that Hungary will stay. There has been a Hungarian presence from around 900 to present, with it's height between
~1000 and ~1500. At that time a short occupation by the Ottomans follows after which the time of the Austria-Hungary begins.
-Added some more barbarian camps, another uranium in Sweden and more bonus grassland.
Some things I'm considering..
-I'm having some problems with the Ukraine..Historically this country is better known as Kiev, which would be solved by a simple name-change. However, Kiev eventually merged with/became Russia. Still, keeping them separate would simulate the many monarchies in the Rus during the period between the 11th and the 14th century. Alternatively, the Ukraine could be changed to Bulgaria, which has been of considerable size between the 7th and the 11th century.
-Furthermore, I'm considering removing Israel in favour of another civilization in the region or elsewhere on the map. This would also give Egypt more of a chance to be playable. A civilization in northwestern Africa or another inhabitant for the Russian plains would be good candidates, as those regions are quite uninhabited at the moment.
I'd appreciate any advice on these two dilemmas...and *everyone* wants a new version, right?

Problems with Civbreed
There are two issues with the attached C3B file:
1) The first line of the file identifies the version of Civbreed that is being used. The first like in Europe13.C3B reads [C3Bv044].
If you are using version 4.6 like I am, change it to [C3Bv046].
2) Civbreed apparently doesn't like nations whose names have more than one word. I started up a game with the Ottoman empire as one of the enemy civs. When I ran civbreed, I got this messae:
Error reading 'Europe13.C3B': found 'Ottoman'
Might have to change "Ottoman Empire" to "Turkey," or make a CPT file like the one that Marla's map uses.
BTW, great map design, but needs lots more resources. Please do not shoot the mirror

What kind of resources are you mainly thinking of? I'd say that for strategic resources and luxuries about 16 should be sufficient, to keep encourage trade in them. On the other hand, adding more simple production boosters might be something to consider. I'll add some extra stuff near large city sites..

nice update V1.3 NORM !
still got pronblems with:
- the tech problem
i played around and instead of 4 turns for every techupdate now it takes 32 turns:-(
i tried to fix it myself in the editor by putting down the techratio in "wordsize" from 1000 to a normal value of 160, but nearly nothing happends (some tech developments takes 20 turn now)
- its right there are to less resorces in the game!
i generatet some more based on some historical mapes i have (hanse,rome,..).
- i played with the germans but everytime i came near 1500 b.c. the game crashed ? very mystirious ???
work on for good
