  • How do you change corruption levels?

I am wondering how one could go about changing the corruption levels (percentages) that are introduced and then grows the further away a city is from the capital (or the forbidden city)?

Or, how can I change how much corruption is negated by the 'courthouse' improvement.

I've seen plenty of mention of how one could change many things in the editor, including corruption, but the only way I've been able to see a way to alter corruption levels is that of individual governments (which is not really changing the corruption levels accross the board) and by giving other improvements the ability to lower corruption levels along with the courthouse.

Actually the last one I'm not sure if it would really work or not; would the corruption reducing effect be additive to the existing courthouses effect? If so, how many more improvements can I give this effect to until the effects are no longer additive, that is, how many could have this effect until no further corruption reducing effects would be seen?

Try searching the Civ3Edit Help with the word "corruption". At least it retrieves the following topics...

I'm well aware of the editor and of the abilities that it offers, I'm asking EXACTLY how these effects are implemented if I make changes via the editor. For example I think I asked:

This being said (I think I was pretty clear), can you please re-read my post and offer something constuctive other than to say (paraphrase here) "give the editor a try"

I have the same question, though I would phrase it a little more politely.

I thought my first post was very polite, my second response was worded as so because I took offense that he worded his post as to indicate I might be less than capable.

I had already indicated that I had tried using the editor, for someone to sugeest that I try using the editor again(without any mention of a specific thing to try) seemed to be a slight toward me.

I think there are 4 ways to influence corruption with the editor.

            1. Change the corruption levels of the governments.

            2. Give more city improvement types the power to reduce corruption. Mind you its all or nothing, you can only set whether an improvement reduces corruption or not, not the level of corruption.

            3. Change the "optimal # of cities" for a given map size. I think its under the "world tap". The higher the number, the more cities you can have without serious corruption kicking in.

            4. Give another wonder the power of the forbidden palace.

There is no "global switch". You can't say "I want corruption to be set at x%" or anything like that.

Thank you for the detailed answer.

It sounds like the best way to do it and still preserve the basic structure of the game is through the gov types.

I wonder whether I can set Democracy to actually have *higher* corruption than Republic. It bugs me that Democracy, which doesn't exist in a world of heavily populous states, is the govt of choice for me and the AI almost as soon as it is developed.
