  • Upgrade-suggestions for the game-editor. Please, add your own ones.

Below is by no means complete. Feel free to add your own suggestions, preferbly in below easy-to-read format (which Tab -> your suggestion). Or perhaps you want to add something under a new additional tab?

1/ Above all; add under each tab, a "Restore Firaxis original settings for this tab" option.

    2/ Unit tab:
When editing units with bombardment capabality; add a "probability of failed bombardment" numeric percetage-input.

    3/ Combat Experience tab:
Add a "probability of succesful elite -> great leader upgrade" numeric percetage-input - indevidually for militaristic and non-militaristic Civs.

    4/ Culture tab:
Add some kind of inputs for how much the domestic entertainment-slider should add to your culture-grownings. (I hope Firaxis modifies the game-default settings in this respect as well, in order to encourage players to use of that entertainment allocation-slider, more often).

    5/ Diplomats and Spies tab:
Add numeric dropdown-menu percentage-inputs (in 10% increments) for how much diplomacy and spy-activities should coast. For example; 10, 20, 30% (or more) below (or above) game-default settings.

    6/ Government tab:
Add a "Corruption and Waste" slider-input, so players can clearly define one a 0-100% scale what should be "Problematic" or "Rampant" corruption.

Also add a "number of turns of Anarchy between gov-overtrowings" input, for each indevidual government-type. With an added "Religious Civs" checkbox, one could modify the rules for Religious Civs seperately, as well.

    7/ Civilizations tab:
Maybe this is already the case, but if not, they should add a "Applies to AI-civilization as well" Checkbox-option, for the Governor-settings.

Add a Team Color link to the Controlpanel -> Monotor palette as well, for more precise indevidual color-settings.

    What about enabling the UNDO-feature?
I get MOST frustrated when trying to make a map, and accidently over-paint something, and can't undo it.
    Also, I would LOVE having a mini-map.
I am desperate for an overview!!
And why can't you add cities and units on the map?
    Or make scripts?
So far I feel that Civ2 was WAAAAAAY more moddable than Civ3 is.
I really hope that Firaxis can make the editor more usefull, and perhaps give us tools to add abilities and scripts to units/improvements/wonders/maps

    PLZ!!!!

If you don't like it, MOD IT!

Im not sure under wich tab to put this suggestion. Maybe under a new Roads & Railroads tab.
8/ Add inputs on how roads and railroads respectively should affect your food- and shield-production.

what i'd like to see is alot less hard coded abilities

*being able to set the manhatten project as a small wonder which effects only one civ
*being able to set the rate at which police quell resistance
*on communal corrpution i would like to see a few settings to the overall effect of corruption, this way you could have a confederation government and a communist one that both have communal corruption but communism has lower corruption
        *damage nuclear weapons inflict
*diplomatic response to raising cities, using nukes, etc
*ability to add bombard defense to a building without it disappearing at size 6
        *more options on differentiating governments
*a trigger system for creating events like the starcraft editor has

and those are just a few of the choices i'd like to see

          Starting locations

Why did they not put the start location utility in? It was in Civ II, why not Civ III. For historical mods, or just plain world maps I consider it a nessecity.

And what about the Civ specific govt. titles?
they were really useful for fantasy/sci-fi mods.

Too many things to list. But basically I would like it so that anything could do and require anything. It's great that Imrpovements can have government requirements but I would like to see it so that units coul require governments and the like.

Also, I think that anything that can be changed in the General Settings tab could be changed by an advance, government, improvement, etc...

For the difficulty tab, I wish you could change how much the AI cheats. That way, you could play on Deity level with no AI cheating, and see how good the AI really is.

I also want a new tab. A Civ traits tab so that you can add and modify the exact traits of a civilization.

I want to be able to add civilizations and units and improvements without doinng freaky things that could crash the game.

I want a warning sign in the editor that says, this change will crash the game!

For the Civilizations tab, I wish there could be more specific requirements for what a civilization will often build or will never build. That way you say... the Russians can never build marketplaces or something like that.

That's all I can think of right now.

a ZOOM IN and ZOOM OUT feature like civ2...i can't stand that i can't see what i'm trying to design on a large screen.

also please fix the tech screen bug linked to editing the rules. everytime i edit the rules to make the huge map 256 by 256, the tech screen gets all wacky. i can't change the tech i'm researching nor can i tell it to set up a research que by clicking on the particular tech. i don't mess with anything in the rules other than the map size so i'm a bit baffled by this problem

I like the extended game of civ 2 (I got test of time like a week before civ 3 came out, so I really didn't play around with it to much, only certain thigns. I have been in the stonage forever with civ1 ) I think it is neat not to just stop at our present time in civilaztion but to go beyond that. So a mod that goes into the future with improvements/units/technologies would be really neat.

Being able to jsut do more, can't really explain it, would be neat.

Most importantly, I wish it would be really cool if you could have deep relations with the other heads of civilization. Reminding the aztecs I have ICBMs and they have musketmen, what their )specific views are about me (ex. my use of nuclear weapons against another civilization, my reasons for goign to war with another civilization, ect.), and being able to stratigize with them (kinda stupid that we have a military alliance against germany but we are all attcking like chickens with our heads cut off. Just imagin if that had happened in WWII)

Anything I miss thathasn't already been noted?
Oh, you mean the red button launches ICBMs? Opps.

                        CPU Respawning

Does this happen in everyones game or am I cursed - I suppose you could call it AI cheating, but whatever it is it really gets on my nerves - BIG TIME!!!
If it's not bad enough that the Romans might start in S. America (for example), when you capture thier last city (after many turns of bloody war), you then have to trapse around the map to find another Roman city that has magically appeared out of thin air. If anyone knows of a way to stop this from happening PLEASE for the love of dog tell me!

A biggie: allow improvements & wonders to be restricted to specific civilizations, just like units. This will be a big help for people creating scenarios.

Another biggie: Allow control over the frequency of pollution & global warming (perhaps a % multiplier)

                            An event editor!!!
Something like the one in the Operational Art of war 1/2 and/or EU 2 but not like the lame one in Civ 2. Doesn't have to be fancy just a trigger leading to an event but with a considerably larger arrays of options than in Civ 2.

Definitely odd. In the game I just completed (with the MP change), nobody finished the MP before I launched my ship (myself, the Greeks and the Germans were all trying). What's the point of changing this, then?
