And what about the refresh rate problem? For many users of nvidia cards with XP, the game sets the refresh rate too high -- to something the monitor can't handle. This is a dangerous bug that could damage people's monitors. (I could be wrong that this is a specifically XP thing, but judging by the posts on this board, I think it is.)

But even if the game had turned out, by some stroke of luck, to be perfectly compatibile with XP, Infogrames still should not have said that the game is compatible with XP when in fact they never tested it with XP.

I really would like to hear from Infogrames/Firaxis on this: Is it true that you claimed XP compatibility without even testing this game on XP?

This is not a specific XP thing, it's an age-old problem with Windows 2000's Nvidia drivers. And most people don't seem to be affected by it, but some are.

Again, why does everyone blame XP for this? Is it because it's new?

The problem with slow scrolling and the occasional refresh rate problem is out of Firaxis' hands, it's out of Microsoft's hands, it's in Nvidia's hands. They're the ones that have to fix it. All of the XP "problems" occur on Windows 2000 as well, and they're drivers for the most part.

The rest of the complaints are just weird problems that people on any OS could be experiencing. No games run perfectly on everyone's config.

Well, this will be my last post to this thread since it just seems to be going around in circles. . .

My whole reason for responding to this in the first place was to point out that I am running Civ3 under WinXP Pro with no issues except for the nVidia driver graphics slowdown which was solved by using the drivers supplied by Microsoft.

Most posts in game forums are from people who have problems and I was just wanting to give a little perspective to anyone who may be reading these posts and to point out that not everyone is having these problems. I for one am not and I wish luck to anyone who is. . .

Now, if we could just get them to issue a fix for the many gameplay bugs (air superiority and precision strikes being my two biggest beefs). . .
