then go to http://www.winace.com/mirror.html to download a file that can UNZIP this .exe file. REPLACE the Civ3.exe file in the root directory (I renamed the original so that I didn't destroy it).
This will bypass the game searching for the CD (copy protection?) and it ran on my computer that a 25 minute PAID FOR phone call to tech support couldn't fix.
I'M ALL ABOUT ETHICS, PLEASE DON'T DOWNLOAD THIS UNLESS YOU HAVE A LEGITIMATE, LEGALLY OWNED COPY OF THE GAME AND CAN'T RUN IT AT ALL!!!!!!!!!!!

civ3/art/movies and RENAME intro.blk to intro.old.
The game can't see it so it skips it.
In the CIV3.INI file, you can TURN ALL SOUND OFF BEFORE THE GAME LOADS
TYPE IN THIS TEXT FILE, right after the opening brackets (case sensitive). Be sure it gets it's own line, and DON'T include the parenthesis.
"NoSound=1"
