Very Good, I like it very much!!!
But some errors that I found; I found that you have E E for Americans instead of I E, or E I for Expansionist, and Industrious.
You should probably look for some other errors along the same lines!!!
Otherwise, it is very good!!!"What is the Matrix?" -Neo

Fantastic. I love it. Grazie mille, muchas gracias, or whatever. I don't have the game yet, but this will be the first modification I make when it finally arrives by air mail from Canada. I'll keep a look out for any version 1.1 after the community has checked it against the manual.

Hey, some of those original Firaxis pics of the Wonders are really an anticlimax. Check out, for example, the "Great Trading Company". It looks like a struggling provisions store in the desert. What gives? Maybe, like Che's brilliant replacement of the completely inappropriate original pic for the Sistine Chapel, some technically proficient and sufficiently motivated civer might replace some of these other disappointing images. I don't have the technical skills, otherwise I would make it a project myself.
Just an idea.

Actually, the trading company looks fairly appropriate to me. It's an old trading post that would probably over time become a city. Very American Old Westish (yes, I just mde up a new word, Westish).I never know their names, But i smile just the same

But Adam Smith's Trading Company is a wonder that takes years and years to build - It's kind of disappointing to see that you get some old shack for all your troubles
Anyway, Adam Smith represents the apex of capitalism - I was expecting something more along the lines of
The Bank of the United States.

Fantastic Che
Use only the best pictures you can find for the Wonders (whether they're from the game or not).
Let them see what a dedicated fan of the game can do
BTW, is there anything you can do to change/improve the Histograph image in the game? It's a real eyesore - I can't believe that was the best they could do. . .

Adam Smith's trading company
I'm not familiar with the history regarding the Trading Company, so I don't feel qualified to determine wether the picture provided is a reasonably accurate representation or not.
If someone has concrete info that supports a different graphic, please do post, and we'll look for an appropriate picture.

Hi all
I'm not a historian of 18th century Scotland but .....
I think there was actually no such thing as Adam Smith's trading company. Adam Smith wrote 'The Wealth of Nations' in 1776, probably the most influential book of modern times (its great rival is 'Kapital' by Karl Marx). It was an instant best-seller, advocating the superior morality and efficiency of capitalism over state-directed mercantilism which had hitherto dominated economics. Smith was professor of Moral Philosophy (not economics) at Glasgow University. I always understood "Adam Smith's Trading Company" in Civ 2 to refer to the explosion in capitalist activity, which his book inspired. In other words I always regarded that 'wonder' as an abstraction or as symbolic.
I don't think you'll find a picture of it, but I think it should be represented by something more impressive than the official pic in Civ 3. The Civ 2 image of the Trading Company was really cool.Last edited by oriel94; November 5, 2001, 00:26.

Che, did you read about the bug that I found in your photos? If you haven't, under Americans, you have E E, instead of E I, or I E!!! This is for the side pop-up. And while you are add it, you should double check the rest of the civilizations to make sure they are correct!!!

In Civ2 the wonder was 'Adam Smith's Trading Comapny'. In Civ3 it is simply 'The Great Trading Company' (see my earlier post about Adam Smith and his book).
I attach an 18th century pic of an East India Company building. For 250 years the (British) East India Company controlled half of the world's trade. This building, located in London's Cutler Street, was owned by the East India Company.
The pic looks historic and impressive, although there doesn't seem to be a lot going on. It would be better than the desert shack currently used to depict the wonder in Civ 3 (also where nothing is going on). Perhaps someone could find a better image to depict 'The Great Trading Company' wonder.Last edited by oriel94; November 5, 2001, 02:32.

I'll probably update the first post in the thread to reflect the need to download the additional patch.
Please, if anyone's found any other errors make sure you let me know!!!!

Hit or miss
Che: Thanks and congratulations on your work!
IMO, the graphics provided by Firaxis are very hit-or-miss. Some of the images are inspiring! Some are...not.
I agree that the "great" trading post should be replaced. It doesn't look great to me. If you provide an alternate pic, it is alternate--you are not forcing your vision on anyone else.
Another one that has got to go is circumnavigation. Come on! S.S. Minnow, anyone?
Finally, I don't really get their perspective drawings. Notably, intell and GrtCathedral just slope back too much.
PeaceI'm not sure I understand all the complaining--the game is highly customizable.
