I set up "Oil" as a needed supply for Nuclear subs (in addition to Uranium), set 'Precision Bombing' as something the Cruise Missile could do, and saved the file (I unchecked 'default rules' in the editor and made sure 'no map' was checked). Started up a game and loaded the "scenario". Experienced the same weirdness with the Science Advisor as Scott stated. This problem is not present when editing the default civ3 BIC file directly (which I backed up first )

When you say weirdness, are you referring to the arrows in the tech advisor being drawn differently, or not being able to click on anything in the science advisor screen?

Dan, do you by any reason use a different version of the game then the one shipped? That can explain why you can't reproduce the bug. :speculating:

The only differences (AFAIK) between what I'm running and what's on the retail game CD are:

-- I am running a "debug" version which allows me to cheat things into the game for testing purposes.

-- I am running a version copied directly off the network instead of the CD version installed via the InstallShield script. Same files, different installation procedure.

But I can't really be 100% sure which is why a "broken" BIC / savegame could help me out here.

Yeah, that's what I'm beggining to think, or that there was an error in installation...

Dan use the files off the CD and see if you reproduce the error.

and BTW, it's not just that the lines are different... it's that they go off the screen/don't connect to techs and you can't select/queue techs.

Dan, one should be hitting your mail box as we speak. It's a small edit-I just changed the name of the Romans to "The Bogeymen", but when I hit the tech tree, it won't let me select the tech I want it to research.

                Marc,

I got your e-mail but no attachment. Tried to email you back but it went to two different emails and both bounced. Can you re-send?

                Thanks.

On it's way. Sorry 'bout that. The return email should work as well. (I hate Netscape 6), if not, the email address (which I should have put in the body of the letter) is tmarcl@cablespeed.com

                    Hiya Dan,

I mailed you a myriad of files earlier, in relation to this, the granary issue and the embassy * click.

                    Best,

                    Scott

                      Scott,

I got 'em, thanks. I am going to try installing the game at home this weekend from the CD and see if that has anything to do with it.

Somehow I missed out on all the fun. I haven't experienced the tech tree weirdness after using the editor. I tried changing some of the corruption rules, and when I loaded up my savegame and ran the game for 1 turn I clearly saw the results of that edit as lower levels of corruption in my cities. Then I opened up the tech tree (F6) and I could still left- and right-click on items.

                          Hmm...

                              Another Bug

Giving a city with sea units to an ally will cause all units to go to your capital. Including sea units, this isnt a proble unless your capital is land locked. Then you will be stuck with sea units with out any place to go...

Try to keep bug reports to the help forum. Especially the one not related to the editor. I'll bring this one to the bug list.
