I am dead serious with nominating Coracle. He was sincere with his criticism about the game, and very passionate. A bit repetitive maybe, but always constructive. I wish there were more open minds like him who remain honest and share their opinion on these boards, even though Firaxis does not appreciate it. It was a weird time after this game came out, with many heated discussions. "Fanboys" and "critics", "sycophants" and "whiners" and what not. I was a fanboy. But brown-nosing alone never led to any progress. Progress needs a critical mind, one who calls vinegar by its name, even though the label says "wine".

I made fun of him, flamed and trolled him and called him names. I deeply regret this today and apologize. This vote is a try for belated compensation. Coracle was right, and deserves my vote just as well as you do. I wish him at heart, that he found another game he enjoys, just like I did too.

Being right (not saying he was or was not) is not enough, when one just goes on and on saying the same thing.

That is not constructive, it is boring and annoying. Any good points were acknowledged, but that was not satidsfactory. He would just beat us over the head and again and again.

Sorry, SR, I thought you were kidding.

I am, definitively, NOT serious about HSS and fanes7.

p.s. Coracle was a bit of a troll, SR. He may have had a point, but he made it badly, and did what so many other annoying people do: assuming what THEY like/want/think is CLEARLY the best way to go, DUH! But that's just my memory of him, and it's been a while...

This is my first post here in many months... I just want to vote for Theseus and Arrian, which are my 2 civ-gurus. I've started to play Civ again and I might even post once more in the next month here...

            So...

            Theseus
            Arrian

Hey DC - I don't think you've added mine yet....

              Once again just in case:

alexman - it is a sad game of civ where I don't use one of his many formulae.. .
Dominae - Mr Apolyton University (if we had a campus we should name the library after him or something), and with much needed advice in the Team DG.

(those guys should SO be in already)

Paddy the Scot - kept the Viking DG alive when so few wanted to, and for almost singlehandedly fostering good-natured participation in the Civ3 PBEM forum, the most active relevant forum here.
              Consul.

Back to the ROOTS of addiction. My first missed poll!

                Alexman: for his scientific contributions

Paddy the Scott: mr PBEM, plays in the most games and is always enthusiastic about one more...

Rommel2D: iron civer tournament initiator, creator and keeping it going
don't worry about things you have no influence on...

alexman and Dominae for all they've done for 'Poly University

Paddy the Scot for keeping the Viking DG going and for dragging my butt into C3 PBEM
But there's no sense crying over every mistake. You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.

Wow, thanks for all the votes!
                    (LOL @ Theseus)

                    Here are mine:
                    • Dominae for his initiatives in the AU/Strat forums
                    • Rommel2D for the Iron Civer tournament
                    • Theseus for his usual enthusiasm

I always vote for recent contributions. I think Aeson, Arrian, Catt, Sir Ralph, among others, should have already been in the hall a long time ago, but the current off-topic bias didn't let it happen.

                      Who's rpodos again?

as for MrWhereItsAt, don't worry, I have your votes. Thanks again. It was just taking me a while to update.

also- the only place that's guaranteed to be updated is the OT thread.

I don't think any of those have gotten any votes so far.

                          Snoopy and Korn have though.
