I wonder how compatible the CIV 3 N-gauge and the CIV 3 PC will be.
My guess is not much......

Nokia today announced that Atari, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATAR) will develop and license games for the N-Gage platform. The first Atari titles for the N-Gage are expected to be released in 2005 and will include Civilizationý, one of the most celebrated strategy games ever created and DRIV3R(TM), the latest installment of Atari's hugely successful driving adventure franchise. Civilization and DRIV3R for the N-Gage platform will combine familiar storylines and action with N-Gage multiplayer features to create a new spin for these brands.
"Having Atari on board as a developer of N-Gage games is a superb addition to our roster, and Civilization and DRIV3R will expand the N-Gage title line-up with two blockbuster franchises," said Pasi Pýlýnen, Director, Games Publishing, Nokia. "We are looking forward to working with Atari to showcase the power of the N-Gage platform, combined with the fantastic portfolio of Atari titles."
"As one of the largest third-party publishers of interactive entertainment software, Atari has a great range of titles like Civilization and DRIV3R that can be developed for the N-Gage platform," said Wim Stocks, Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Atari. "Creating mobile multiplayer features for a select number of our games is an exciting opportunity for us to give fans of Atari products the value of mobility."

Well the two sites that formed Apolyton did merge within a couple months of when SidGames was created. And no matter what you say, the Alpha Centauri Nexus had more visitors than Apolyton when SMAC was released
And I always reported more news and news before you guys

Well regardless of how old the initial press release was, I certainly hope that whomever is sub-contracted to design and port the game to the N-Gage platform demonstrates wisdom similar to Firaxis by coming to places such as Apolyton to engage (*cough*) the player community. I think we can all agree that on such a tiny platform, some significant compromises will have to be made. Time and time again, the members here have demonstrated their deep insight into the game and what makes it fun - just look at how many suggestions from "The List" and subsequent discussions have been incorporated into Civ III and its many upgrades and expansions. Many of us would drop $3-400 on the game console, the Civ title *and* the monthly subscription fee - but *ONLY* if it's done right.
Well, I was under the impression the N-Gage version will be more of CIV than CIVIII, and since CIV was also released on the Super Nintendo, I don't see a problem. The N-Gage screen seems good enough.

Well, yes, I think it's far too much to think they misspoke and meant C3C...
I take it the SNES game supported absolutely no MP options? Come to think of it, I know this is a long shot, but might anyone here (read: Firaxis) know how well the game sold on that platform, or if any player feedback was gathered after its release? I know very few people who tried it, but those who did found it appalling on many levels - really antiquated.
