  • Civilization on N-Gage

Not sure if this has already been addressed, but is there any info on Civ being licensed for the N-Gage platform? Will that be multi-player?

    Thanks,
    dl

Not if they are smart. I want to see someone play a 360x360 map on N-Gage, ouch.

Excitingly, Raiskinen announced that Atari and Capcom would join the list of publishers developing games for the N-Gage platform. According to Pasi Polonen, who took the microphone during the proceedings, Atari would be releasing games like Driv3r and Civilization for the N-Gage.
I remember reading a blurb about this on the news page here during E3, but no further updates to it's development. I believe the game is due out in 2005.

Read something similar too, through I think it is original Civ only.

It would be weird playing that again.

Always thought settlers looked like Viking helmets. Took me a while to spot they were supposed to be wagons.

At first I though, that was a guy with very big ears.

                It Nokia's porable game console/phone/mp3 player/planner/bread maker.

I never tried it, so I can't tell you much about it. It is widely hated and loathed. But, I said I never tried it, so maybe its not as bad as everyone said it is.

Yeah, I really don't like these new gadget-tastic phones and gaming consoles either. Seems kinda pointless.

Thanks for the info, peeps. I agree, I have misgivings about playing Civ I again. Ah yes, I seem to recall that chariots were preposterously overpowered...

But more to the point, I can't imagine playing it single-player mode. However, I think that even "Civ Net" was playable, because when you play against a human being, issues like graphics and sound are less important. Moreover, I had understood the primary marketing angle on the N-Gage was that since it has a cellular phone built in, it could easily offer multiplayer options.

I guess I'm just hoping that it might reach a new platform with multiplayer built in from the start. Upon further historical review, however, I'm afraid this is rather naive.

DL means "double login" (the same as AE - "alter ego" - on other boards) and is something seriously frowned upon here, as everyone is allowed to run only one account.

I'm only going out to buy N-Gage and Civ for it if I can play my C3C PBEMs on it...
