  • Firaxis Game Feedback (www.firaxis.com)

For those interested in letting Firaxis know that they are somewhat dissatisfied with the current poor implementation and buggy release of Civ3 Conquests, you can let them know directly by logging on to their site "www.firaxis.com" and giving them some Game Feedback under the "Contact" pulldown.

Maybe if they realize how many of us there are, they might actually decide to rebuild their reputation by reassigning some people to fix it.

I think it is a bit late for that anyway they visit this board from time to time.

Well, I don't think it hurts...

Especially, when they hear the complaint from someone who has been buying Sid Meier's games since the mid-80s.

And they know his name and reputation sells to us oldsters. They even market to us directly, by advertising the new products with his name on it. They need to know that they have pretty much ruined this marketing ploy and his reputation, by leaving us so called oldsters, holding the bag, so to speak.

I suspect you won't find it to be true. His name is safe. Yes games have bugs and issues and delays, but most fell CivIII is/was fun.

You will see that when Pirates comes out, it will sell just fine. For one thing, his name gets shelf space.

Oh I am not trying to be argumentive, just pointing out some sobering fact. I too am an oldster (my daughter is 36).

I even know who the Grey Lensman is / was. Man, I haven't seen one of those on the store bookshelves in... a looong time. Doc ROCKS!

vmxa1 is right, they know, through the general boards like 'poly and CFC, through the beta testers, through some private fora, etc. It's frustrating. In the meantime, I'd prefer to promote such as the AU Mod, which have and are going a long way to address the deficiencies remaining.

Indeed, why even b**** about it then?

It is odd that people will complain to before they will congratulate companies on certain aspects of game software and computer systems.

Perhaps, the hundreds of hours of enjoyment you have gotten from this game is less important then the pain of not being able to play it in perfect harmony or not play it at all for a few days or weeks.

Also, I think that the occasional error, or hold up in patches that occures should not be a rallying call for anger and disillusionment by the people who play the game and enjoy it. If you really didn't like the game, you wouldn't play it, but if you really liked the game, but disliked the company, you would still play it.

That idea in itself intrigues me: Why do people complain about the game and yet still keep coming back?

                -Ron

of course recently a certani forum they frequented was closed.

I was responding to "Why do they keep coming back?"

The common refrain about why Civ is like crack is that we all feel compelled to play "just one more turn."

It comes and goes for us all I guess, depending on the given game. I, for instance, am a friggin' one-more-turn crack addict for the AU game I am playing with nbarclay right now ( and I know he feels the same way). If the two of us, who've been banging away at this game since the day it came out feel this way, well, for whatever *****es we have about patches and whatnot, I'm pretty impressed with the return on investment!

                          C3C rocks!

                          It made C3 playable.

C3C is going down the toilet, as the game that 'could of have been', however, am I dismayed, yes and no. Yes, because it is so close to wonderful and yet not. No, because the idea is there, the fire of ideal is here in our expectations (even though they are largely unmet in C3C). However, on 'morrow, a dozen games will emerge better than this, count on it, I AM....

the bugs don't concern me much. I never used subs before C3C . they sucked. Maybe if they had enough power to actually take down a battleship.

But things like this happen when you have an outside developer develop an expansion for you.
