    2) Fix attempts resulted in varying and disasterous results
    3) Civ : Complete

I realize I made some heavy promises back in January, but I am not going to be able to delivery on them. I refuse to deliver another patch that launches like v21 (or worse) so at this point I can't make anymore promises. I have no idea when a patch will be made privately available or publically available."

So maybe 1.22 will all in all be our final patch. I hope not though.

I just hope that eventualy major things like barbarians and AI army use get fixed.

I don't want that in next few years people remember Civ3 barbarians by "don't step on NW-SE axis" tactics.

    Kinda ruins Civ3 name.

There has been some ads for this recently. We have not heard what it will contain, but likely all three versions and maybe some extras.

Maybe extra things include a patch for C3C issuses?

Me aswell, but I reckon that the AU mod fixes these as best possible, especially the armies, but it is too far from stock for some people.

At least this won't happen with civ 4, since it is so easily moddable, most problems will probably be found and solved in the community...

Hard to say, possibly. I would think a few maps, updates to some of the scenarios and maybe the content from the Free CD.

i totally agree with you here. the other MAJOR bug that needs to be fixed above all other bugs is the submarine bug. as soon as i found out about this bug i stopped building subs, a MAJOR blow to my naval tactics.

i wonder why trying to fix these bugs were so DISASTEROUS to fix. they had other bugs to contend with in the past and they got fixed.

If I were to venture a guess, their best programmers were put into lead positions on their upcoming projects.

IIRC the sub bug is deeply embedded in the program, and requires at least some re-write of code to fix. I would assume that's what caused the disasters; they try to fix one area of the code relating to it and something else falls apart due to the change...

Having good Civ 4 > Civ 3 at this point.

Future sales of Civ 4 > future sales of Civ 3.

Focusing on where the cash is is only sensible for companies who want to survive to make future games.

I agree with Trip, but this is not to say that if they get a down time, they should let some of their big guns have a shot at fixing it up.

Especially regarding the sub bug, my understanding is that it was a side effect of some of the Conquests scenarios (e.g., Middle Ages and Sengoku) which needed invisible units to act a certain way.

If that is correct, all they need is for there to be 2 sets of code: 1 for submarine use, the other for other scenarios. Add a user switch to determine which to use, get around the convoluted old-code bugs this creates, and your done!

Meanwhile, I don't build submarines much anymore either.
