Scientific, because it had no votes and I'm crazy about cheap libs & uni's.

In my games I now make 2 govt switches - Republic once I've finished any early wonder I was building, and Democracy when the unit and worker count gets expensive and I'll soon need fast RR as I won't have any coal in my statically-bordered civ. On Monarch level losing another half-dozen turns isn't critical.

On higher levels Religious gets more important.

I find myself sticking with Republic because the support costs usually end being significantly lower for me.

In the game I was playing last night, I think I was paying 46gpt on unit upkeep as a republic, but I had over 100 units. So as a Democracy, I'd be paying quite a bit more, which I think would more than cancel out the slightly lower corruption level.

The faster workers thing is nice, yeah, but I haven't yet thought it worth the anarchy (even the 1 turn religious anarchy).

      -Arrian

edit: clearly just a difference in playstyle - you aren't conquering other civs like I tend to do, which gives me more free unit support.

I find myself looking forward to playing industrious civs these days and staying far away from agricultural. Scientific is also nice because of the cheap libraries and uni's.

I should really say religious, since I'm getting more into 2 government switches these days, but I'm trying to learn to live with 10-15 turns of anarchy per game I usually go into monarchy for a bit of blood and guts then move on to democracy - particularly when sing the AU mod which really kills republic for me. If I'm not using the mod I may go into republic for the whole game and be more careful about warfare.

              Favourite: Ind.
              Strongest: Agr.

I always play Random civs in Epic games these days - it started out as a way to get round my compulsive need to play Industrious civs with good UUs.

My deal is random civ with random opponents on a Huge or Standard map with all climate variables at the middle value.

But that doesn't make "random" an answer to the question "what is your favourite attribute?".

You do this with random mods too?

I never choose a civ that is not industrious. Even with Conquests, I still need the fast workers.
