Did you have the correct prerequisites in order to be able to pop a Settler?

That's a good point Trip. I'm not really sure as I was more interested in seeing if huts yielded tech on Sid. Probably worth double checking.

I popped 500 huts on Sid, Deity, and Demigod in my own test when I first got C3C. Then the same test on Deity and Demigod. I created a scenario with a 100 move ATAR Scout and 100 Huts a few tiles from the player start, played with preserve random seed off. The AI start locations were all placed on an island so they couldn't interfere in any way. Played an Expansionist civ obviously. Everything else was standard.

First turn I'd settle my city, and make sure not to be building a Settler. Then the next turn save, and replay the save 5 or more times popping all the huts. If I ran out of Ancient Era techs to get (researching Construction to get Republic and Monarchy) I reloaded.

Settlers were disbanded as soon as they were found, and in the Demigod run, cities were disbanded ASAP. That meant a slight problem with the Demigod results as the cities would pop huts themselves which wouldn't qualify for cities or Settlers, but Deity and Sid weren't affected.

I don't remember the actual results too well, just that Settlers and Cities did not show up on Sid. I don't think Techs did either, but not absolutely sure on that. SirPleb mentioned that they don't in his own experience, so I'd go with no techs until shown otherwise. IIRC the huts from the Sid run were very close to 1/3 Maps, 1/3 Gold, and 1/3 Warriors in each run, and almost dead on overall. No empty huts.

Deity added Techs and Settlers (higher percent than in Civ/PtW IIRC, due to no empty huts), while Demigod allowed for Cities.

I don't have much experience popping huts as a non-Expansionist. Suicide on Sid to pop huts, but could be tested rather easily with a super unit.

I also found that you can get gold from huts on Sid although I didn't note that in my previous posts.

I think you are talking about barbarian camps, not goody huts. I believe goody huts are popped.
