archipalago with the least amout of land for seafaring civs

warm dry worlds for agricultural civs.

    large, pangea for expansionist civs

    what else?
Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

Seafaring civs do well on pangeas too as they can explore the coastlines and contact a suprising number of civs that way.

I used to think huge maps w/ max # civs were necessary to provide the best challenge. Now I think that Standard maps against 8 civs is plenty challenging. The game moves much faster and that is most important. I like to randomize all other map settings to make things challenging.

Warm wet worlds for Mayans. They enslave an insane number of workers, can clear the jungle/marsh land faster than anyone else, build roads to the enemies for trade and conquer via these routes.
        Haven't been here for ages....

Raging Barbarians works well for Mayans also.
