I guess you can think of it as a Catfish Farm.

Yeah, but cleaning the mushy residue off your picks after mining those bananas and fish is much fun.

I've played a lot and I've never seen fish randomly placed on swamps in the epic game. Is there a chance its a bug .. they left it out of world generation ... or maybe forgot to carry the "1" somewhere so it appears 1 000 000 000:1 times

                    Thaddeus,

The reason that you haven't seen it yet may be due to the resource scarcity in C3C. Perhaps you might increase the likelyhood of (at least) Bonus Resources in the editor. IIRC, all resources are about 1/3 less available in this version. (I forget the actual number but if you multiply the 'appearance factor by something like 1.3 in the editor, it will bring it up to PTW settings.)

C3C is like 'PTW Light'--all the flavor but with 1/3 less resources!

True but I see oil appearing in swamps at least twice per normal sized map, and rubber ... well less often. But I've never seen fish ... so strange ... I even went back to my saved games and scanned them quickly but to no avail. So alas ... no underground lakes for poor Alex lol

EDIT: See plenty of game, though ...

This was possible in past versions of Civ III too, just took a lot more effort. From Moonsinger's CFC thread on how to railroad fish:

Ok, I wasn't the first to road fish. But Moonsinger had to wait until he discovered Nukes. I accomplished this in the Ancient Age!!!!

(or did I get some help from the so-called 'Ancient Astronaughts'???)

I agree that there are vast differences between fish mines and just irrigated fish.

                            (aren't most fish irrigated naturally?)

Could be something like a trout farm

I don't like the fish in marshes. It's just too wierd.
