Fun conquest. I played as Mycenae on Monarch and won fairly easily. I expanded and held the Bosporus (for a couple reasons, I won't spoil it) and a few cities on asia minor (I thought there was some hint to do so, but didn't get anything out of it) and crete. Built 5 of the GW's and won before the tech tree was completed.

Fun stuff, but I would like to play an all out game like that rahter than ending with the wonders, may want to mod it, and increase the number of turns. I didn't attack anyting other than barbs the whole time.

Mesopotamia is a great scenario. But it is really easy if you play the Egyptians because you can expand all you want along the Nile and the African coast, without worrying about war since your only threat is from the Phoenicians. I played the enitre scenario without one war, just expanded, built up and completed all 7 wonders myself!

The war we fight is not against powers and principalities, it is against chaos and despair. Greater than the death of flesh is the death of hope, the death of dreams. Against this peril we can never surrender. The future is all around us, waiting, in moments of transition, to be born in moments of revelation. No one knows the shape of that future or where it will take us. We know only that it is always born in pain.'"

Mesopotamia totally changes its character on the higher levels...up to Monarch, and for some Civs (Mycenae) also Emperor, it can be a peaceful Builder's game, but above that, it's really a challenge, involving lots of warfare (try Medeans on Emperor+, and you'll see what I mean). Also, Egypt is easily the hardest Civ on the higher levels (and the easiest on Regent and below), due to the horrible uprisings, and having only the Phoenicians nearby, who happen to have a defensive UU at the same time as Egypts War Chariot.

Well, I tried my first scenario last night, also as Sumeria, and got beat on the clock by about 2000 VP... didn't focus enough on the victory locations I think.

          Fun!!

For those who have played now, which AIs were the best? The Egyptians ran away with the wonder building in my game. The Hittites and Medeans were huge as well, but they only had one wonder between the two of them.

(Basically I'm trying to figure out which civs should be targets for the Deity/Sid player to eliminate first)

I was hesitant to start as the Mycenaens because it is believed they were wiped out by volcanoes, but I started anyways. I looked around at the map and quit. There is only one river in some hills, and I don't think they had Terrace farming back then, so they are SOL for irrigation.

I then started Napoleon as Britain, but everyone else started allying against ME!!!

NExt I went for the Middle Ages as the Byzantines, but then remembered the Christians will be pounding on my door to get to Jerusalem, and the Turks will come from the other direction.

I think I'll try as the Franks.

One OS to bring them all
and in the darkness bind them.

Hey, what are the stats of Chariots, War Chariots, 3-Man Chariots, Horsemen, Ancient Cavalry, Swordsmen, and Companions?

I thought I'd get to the point

I'm starting to like this scenario again (My interest had declined after a designer diary that didn't impress me). Is it just me, or do are more techs definately needed?

I used to do that, but I got a new keyboard recently, and for some reason unknown to me, print screen doesn't work anymore.

Yes, but I like the ability to resize and save as jpeg that is part of Irfanview. I use Hyper for games like Moo2 as I can not capture those screens with any other tools. Hyper also has an easy to use crop tool. I have PhotoShop, but it take longer to load. I can just slam screens out in a hurry with the other tools.

Anyway it was just an FYI, not important.

I started a third game on this conquest, again Sumerians, but this time on Demigod. (My second game was Egypt on Sid, and I lost.) I conquered the first three Babylonian cities and eliminated them. I'm actually building the Colossus and Pyramids, and I think I have a pretty good shot. One of the AIs might get more wonders, but I have plenty of time to attack if I feel like they're in danger of winning.
