  • Couldn't you just have tested in hotseat? Unless that's broken too...

    • It was my understanding that hotseat worker jobs =! pbem worker jobs.

Maybe E_T could help explain better, he's the one that tipped me off to the difference between SP and PBEM (in short, the job "manifests" 1 turn before it should be done, but the worker is "frozen" for the last turn of the job).

      • Disregard my previous post about a crash. Call it stupid user error. I updated popHeads.pcx with one from a previous version. Doh!

        Anyway all's fixed now.

        • here's one.

you know how the civ3 ZOC works? how it has a chance of hurting someone as they pass through? well listen to wht just happened.

an arab archer attacked my 3hp swordsman, and won with 1 HP left, and proceeded to march into the tile. my army next to the tile, takes a free shot at the archer, and it dies.

the free shot from ZOC should be calculated first.

            • Looks like the buffer was not cleared. The question is whose, maybe the video card had a hiccup.

              • Multiplayer game - turn based.

Host in city screen at end of turn cycle.

                Anyone builds a wonder.

Host will be stuck in city screen.

This is the only thing that caused us to quit and reload in a 36 hour stint - and it happened several times - easy to work around as long as you remember to warn the host before you build a wonder!

                • Pillaging Barricades - Bug or Design Feature?

Pillaging a tile with a barricade proceeds in the following order: barricade, RR, road + irr/min, fort. Additionally, pillaging a barricade costs a unit's entire remaining movement, even if the unit has multiple moves remaining, and even if the unit is an army which normally pillages without movement cost. This is true even if the barricade being pillaged is your own barricade in your own territory.

                  • Pillaging Barricades - Bug or Design Feature?

Quite reasonable to me to be a design feature. You've got hedgehogs, minefields, dragon's teeth and all sorts of obstructions to movement you have move into, blast, and clear out, piece by piece.

Only use an army to do it if you don't already know it's going to end its movement.

                    • I've had yet another game ruined by the damn submarine bug. I hit the wrong key and the sub was left alone in its tile; then my "Gracious" ally with the MPP ran into it and declared war.

                      • I assume the assassin bug in Middle Ages conquest is the same thing as the submarine bug since both are invisible units.

However there is another strange effect. A french worker blundered into my cordovan assassin and the screen showed them having a battle??? Sounds, action and the worker collapsed and died after several rounds of combat with no HP loss to my unit.

It then got very strange as several more french workers rushed out of the adjacent city and "attacked" my assassin, all with the same result. Eventually a spearman then attacked and got killed after which it all stopped, presumably because the AI ran out of available units. We were already at war at the time but I have never seen an AI move workers out of a city with an enemy unit around before.
Never give an AI an even break.

                        • This is not technically a bug, but it IS so absurd that I thought I'd post it... the Inca declare war on me and attack the next turn.

                            • I am not sure if this has been mentioned before and I am not even sure if it is a bug but I play the dutch and their UU Swiss Mercenary does not upgrade to Musketman after I research Gunpowder. Civilopedia says that the musketman upgrades to the swiss mercenary. Now is that the way it is supposed to work?

Also after I capture a city the Temple remains intact so I build a cathedral but after I go back the temple has dissapeared so after the cathedral is completed I still have the option to build a temple?! Anybody else notice this?

                              So long...

Swiss Mercenary upgrades to Musketeer (another UU), which upgrades to Rifleman; so wait for the Rifles.
