  • TERRAIN: Smudge Terrain Set

I have created a new terrain set for Civilization 3 PTW, though there is no reason why it can't be used with regular Civ3 as well. There are four files.

    ----------------------------------
    To Install for PTW:
    1. Unzip the contents of the P0 file to the Civ3 PTW scenario folder.
    2. Unzip the P1 file to the Smudge Terrain|Art|Terrain folder that was created after you unzipped the first file.
    3. Unzip the P2 file to the same location as the P1 file
    4. Unzip the P3 file to the Smudge Terrain|Art folder
    5. Start the Game and select the Smudge Terrain Scenario.
    ----------------------------------
    To Install for regular Civ3:
    1. Back up your Terrain folder, Cities folder, and Resource.pcx file.
    2. Unzip the P1 and P2 files to the Art|Terrain folder
    3. Unzip the P3 file to the Art folder
    4. The P0 file is not needed for this install and you can now start the game as normal.
    ----------------------------------

I have included screenshots below. The links to the files are listed below.

If one of the mods could allow me to upload a single zip file (5.17 MB) that would be great.

    P0 1.02 KB : http://apolyton.net/upload/files/She...eTerrainP0.zip

    P1 3.05 MB : http://apolyton.net/upload/files/She...eTerrainP1.zip

    P2 1.72 MB : http://apolyton.net/upload/files/She...eTerrainP2.zip

    P3 398 KB : http://apolyton.net/upload/files/She...eTerrainP3.zip

I was thinking either Paint Daubs or Dry Brush

                statusperfect:
don't say that, warpstorm would be insulted. simple watercolor-filter didn't work (tiles didn't fit nicely next to eachother)

                still missing the inverted filter

Perhaps someone with a flair for photochoping could make an 'embossed metal' version of the game images. They would be somewhat mono-chromatics but could be nicely added to the 'gold' edition!

Actually, that dosen't sound like a bad idea -- but how would you tell the water types apart?
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

Hmm the water types may be difficult if taken straight from the game but I am thinking texture would be the key.

A coastal tile would have a rough texture for the coastline and a medium texture for the water.

The sea tiles could have an all medium texture.

Finally the ocean tiles would have a very gentle (smooth ripples?) texture.

This would give the impression of the metal tiles being rough, then smoother and smoother until you reach the open sea where it is gentle and roling.

                        What do you think??

That would be really, really cool.

I once did change the UI with the gold filter of Paintshop Pro... looked quite nice.
