        Built Wilhelmshaven Navy Dockyard, laid down June 1913, completed October 1917, cost 59,000,000 Marks

        Size:
        Length 698 feet 2 inches overall, beam 95 feet 2 inches, draught 27 feet 3 inches, displacement 26,513 normal 31,000 tons deep.

        Propulsion:
        4 shaft Parsons turbines, 72,000 shp, 27.5 knots

        Trials: 95,777 shp = 28.5 knots

        Armour:
        12-4in belt, 10in barbettes, 11in turrets, 3-1in decks

        Armament:
        8 x 12in SKL/50 (4 x 2), 14 x 5.9in (14 x 1), 4 x 3.45in (4 x 1), 4 x 23.6in TT

        Comments:
        Very similar to the Derfflinger class but slightly longer. Internally the boiler rooms were re-arranged as was some of the armour. Crew 44 officers and 1068 men.

        World War 1 Service:
        I Scouting Group.
        After World War 1 interned and then scuttled at Scapa Flow.

        Hindenburg although the last German battlecruiser completed was originally to have been succeeded by larger and more powerfully armed Mackensen and Ersatz Yorck classes. Three hulls of the Mackensen class were launched but never completed with other ships not being that advanced.

                      • Yes this is a diagram of the Russian battleship General Popov. IIRC, it was deployed in the Caspian Sea at the mouth of the Volga, near Astrakhan.
