I don't know if the Iranians already used the G3 in the1980s but it has been manufactured and used by Iran for several years now.

As both sides, Iraqis and Iranians, were supported by many countries they surely used a wide pallet of arms.

AFAIK, the Iranians adopted the weapon when they were one of the US's key allies prior to the revolution. I've seen heaps of pictures of Iranian troops using them during the Iran-Iraq war.

I think in the Iraq-Iran war in pictures I have never seen a H&K g3
